Re: What are you Watching?

I've been wanting to watch Odd Taxi for a while now, but I've gotten really behind at watching anything "new" in my queue (thanks to me getting sick twice last month, and having to watch stuff for the podcast, etc). I'm hoping to get around to it soon, because it sounds so interesting.

Re: What are you Watching?

I really hope another studio decides to commemorate Miura by adapting more/other arcs like the Lost Children arc (or whatever really). Despite his untimely death and the manga's lack of closure, Berserk shouldn't simply become hands-off. I definitely think there's room for more anime to be made, an...

Re: What would modern fandom have looked like without the sci-fi community connection?

without science fiction fandom, it's hard to say what anime fandom - or modern fandom at all - would look like. The SF fans of the 30s and 40s built fanzines, self-published fiction, newsletters, fan clubs, and APAs. The SF fans of the 60s built connections with the mass media production companies ...

Re: Berserk Creator Kentarou Miura Passes at 54

It still doesn't feel real, tbh, especially considering his family already held a service before announcing his passing (which is totally understandable, for their own privacy, but still...). I was kinda hoping some sort of public service may be held for fans, but considering Covid is still a big pr...

Re: How cheap are VHS nowadays and some other questions

Yeah, VHS prices are kind of all over the place. It doesn't help that there's a healthy resale market on places like Depop and Instagram, where younger fans who kinda "idolize" the novelty & analog-ness of anime on VHS are willing to pay close to MSRP pricing on VHS. I follow a few jus...
