Re: Tubi to stream Dr Slump, Gegege no Kitaro, and more!

Cool. I've been watching the 80s Kitaro via a rip of old off air recordings of when it aired on Nippon Golden Network (Skaro Hunting Society release) and it would be nice to see it more accessible, and in higher quality (though the old recordings are neat, with stuff like ads for Japanese book store...

Re: What are you Watching?

Just watched Here is Greenwood, the original Software Sculptors dub. Very nice slice of early 90s wacky shoujo OVA, only complaint is there's only 6 episodes.

Re: Barbara of The Technogirls

A warm welcome aboard to you for sure! Your Oniisama E is a landmark release that lives on even now - my go to edition is still a digisub that used the Technogirls translation (and was I introduced to the show through a copy of the original fansubs). Good job on keeping your page alive too, it's one...

Re: Nikaku Animart (Contains Large images)

Urusei Yatsura Box Set, TV Series (50 discs) .................. 4,125.00 Wow, that's the record retail price I've come across for the UY LD50 import box. A contemporary Laser Perceptions ad had it around $3700. It's no wonder that monster set took on a sort of totemic significance as an ultimate re...

Harmony Gold Relicenses Macross

Bad news for those hoping to ever see Macross properties released here: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2019-07-05/harmony-gold-renews-license-to-1st-macross-southern-cross-mospeada-anime-series/.148700 I find stuff like this oddly fascinating. Harmony Gold's shady real estate holdings finance...

Re: Anyone want to Compare LDs?

Hi Moonsaber. Though not affiliated with the TechnoGirls, a download of their fansub was indeed my introduction to Oniisama e (an nth gen VHS rip with lots of noise). I posted awhile back about how the TechnoGirls apparently finished their fansub in fairly recent times, even after both an official s...

Re: Anyone want to Compare LDs?

This is from memory - I have many more in several milk crates and record boxes to be added. The Maison Ikkoku LD24, Dirty Pair box, 2 of 3 GE999 TV boxes, and Ghibli Ga Ippai boxes are a few highlights. Gatchaman complete TV series box is huge, with great original art on each sleeve. Also have the O...

Re: Collecting anime film prints - Starzan!

Great thread. Now if only we can find someone who has a 35mm theatrical print of Project A-Ko Thanks! Man, I would kill for an A-Ko print as well: I have fond memories of watching it back on the Sci-Fi Channel's Saturday Anime block. Made some progress acquiring equipment to work with my Grave prin...

Re: Collecting anime film prints - Starzan!

Yeah, I was really surprised when it appeared and for a price I didn't have to think about. Nice unfaded color, as it had to be struck some time in probably the mid 90s (guessing) and film stock by that point had the chemistry worked out so it won't fade to red. Very bulky! The 9 reels of film weigh...

Re: Collecting anime film prints - Starzan!

Here's another piece of anime film history that I can't believe I now have - a 35mm print of Grave of the Fireflies! 35mm theatrical anime prints are nearly impossible to come across, let alone Ghibli stuff, and when this surfaced I had to have it. I got it from a guy in Russia for a great price - f...
