Re: The shambling zombie that was once Tokyopop moves again.
That was one of the only good things to come out of that company. I've heard rumors that TP only stopped flipping manga because it was less work to edit titles, though...Which wouldn't surprise me terribly. I talked to someone that worked there briefly and she said that there were times they'd get ...

Re: Laserdiscs
I'm not sure what you mean by the "elephant condom" sleeves, though. The standard ones I have are those very thin, transluscent plastic sleeves. I think I only have a few LDs that come in a paper sleeve. They aren't really clear, but transluscent. Is that what you mean? Those transluscent...

Re: DragonBall Kai to air on Toonami this fall
Cool stuff, I think that it's important for anime to still be on actual television (and not just streaming) in the U.S., and as a Toriyama fan this makes me happy as well. Kind of crazy to think that I was watching DBZ over the air in 95-96 and Kai is still in regular rotation going on 20 years late...

Re: What non-Japanese animation are you watching?
Dr. Katz was genius. My friend was a huge Dr. Katz fan. He gave me season 1 on DVD once season 2 was only available as a combination with season 1. Not sure why they did that. I think I saw one episode of Home Movies and I would agree that it was the spiritual successor to Dr. Katz. It was the same...

Re: The Latest Movies (Non-Anime) You Are Watching Right Now
I recently thought it might be fun to try watching more of the Criterion movies they have available on Hulu. I rewatched House (old Japanese "horror" movie) for the first time in ages (still so much fun to watch), but I also watched a few I hadn't seen before, like Cronos and The Vanishin...

OK, and now this: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-11-11/kuroko-basketball-threat-suspect-caught-on-camera-last-year Again, lazy reportage by ANN with no actual mention of WHY this person or persons are so hot to hate. I have always been amazed by ANN just sort of getting de facto "Be...

Re: Sailor Moon Crystal (new 2014 anime)
I'm excited about this as well, it's almost like the 90's never went anywhere, what with DB Kai AND new Sailor Moon. That was one gripe I had with the Dragon Ball Battle of Gods movie, it drifted too far from Toriyama's original artwork in an effort to look "modern". Hopefully Sailor...

Re: The Latest Movies (Non-Anime) You Are Watching Right Now
I don't see any mention of the new live-action Patlabor series, "The Next Generation" here... It's had theatrical screenings in the big cities, and the first episode was broadcast on SkyPerfecTV's "Star Channel 1" (where I've just watched it). Anybody else see it? Unfortunately,...

Re: What non-Japanese animation are you watching?
Just thought I'd mention that I recently purchased (and re-watched) Home Movies, which was a cancelled UPN show (and spiritual Dr. Katz successor) that got new life on Adult Swim. This was a really underrated show, specifically the last two seasons, looking back I feel like it was probably the best ...
