Re: Organizing Your Media And Merch

most of my DVDs and BRs are in some media shelves that Ikea discontinued pretty much the minute after we bought ours, which is a pain. My no longer in production IKEA media cabinets will hold a total of 216 Blu rays. I've decided that will be my "favorites" library, and everything else go...

Re: New BASTARD!! anime coming this year from Netflix

As a collector of Studio Loud (only missing the last couple BASTARD volumes), I'll be glad to see the animated version progress beyond the first arc. Although, the first season will likely be a rehash and nothing new will appear until season 2. The interview with the staff on YT was fun, definitely ...

Re: The end to the Harmony Gold-Macross debacle

HG finally realizing things are no longer limited to an 80's era syndicated toon market :P

The YT Macross channel has Flashback 2012 playing for a time:

Re: 1987 catalog of dreams and VHS tapes

Those prices are why I'm only a collector of luxury pencil boards and key chains ;)
Seems weird how today the anime recordings are cheap but the SD plastic toys (like nendoroids) are absurdly expensive.

Re: Question About Tai Seng Video Marketing

I still have a couple DVDs of Tai Seng releases, and am fairly confident their license for US distribution was legit. Of course, to get more than a handful of titles you needed a region free player and more dubious discs from companies like Media Asia, Universe Laser, and Mei-Ah Multimedia. Q Tarant...

Re: Your memories of anime theatrical release?

Miraculously, my second college roomie volunteered to drive to the Cleveland Cinematheque so I could catch a double feature of LAPUTA and AKIRA. While both films enthralled the full audience, the latter delivered some squeamish shocks to the average viewer. I can imagine the eyeball dynamite that th...

Re: What are you Watching?

Restarted the Netflix drip to see the new GITS TV among other things. Twelve episodes are available, rendered in a "budget" version of the CG animation that Shinji Aramaki has been working in since the Appleseed movies. I don't know why some fans think that the cel animation of 25 years ag...

Re: How bad would the Corona virus be to the convention scene

With ACEN and Animazement cancelled, there are no longer any sizeable events within driving distance for me. I don't have to worry about refunds though, since neither con has invited "old school" guests of interest to me. I'm still kind of grumpy about my luckless trip last year. Maybe I'l...

I used Sony's MD for a few years; I think the player could record/mix from a variety of sources, which is why I bought it. That, and I consider Apple's insidious wares something I can live without.

Kazutaka Miyatake of Studio Nue Interview

Sharing from a Macross FB post that popped up today. A good read on the background of notable Nue projects: https://www.forbes.com/sites/olliebarder/2019/12/26/kazutaka-miyatake-on-studio-nue-and-the-birth-of-real-robot-mecha-design/ Reminds me I should really buy that Dunbine collection that was re...
