Re: The end to the Harmony Gold-Macross debacle

Big West, Studio Nue, Harmony Gold USA Agree to Global Distribution of Macross, Robotech What are your thoughts on this? How would Satelight and its partners push Macross in America from this point on? What could we expect from them other than Blu-Ray releases of previous Macross series? We can exp...

Re: Oldschool OVAs You Wish Were Completed

Sonoda is too busy running his family candy shop of 400 years. Wow, I had go read up on that. I had no idea that's what he was doing these days! Crazy that a lifetime ago, the guy was basically defining the look of anime character designs for a whole generation. Now he's running an ancient candy sh...

Re: Oldschool OVAs You Wish Were Completed

Sonoda is too busy running his family candy shop of 400 years. Robert Woodhead was kind enough to gift me one of his shop bags on one of his trips like 2 years ago and I got it from him at Animazement. The fact that he can balance the time and energy into the new Riding Bean anime is pretty outstand...

Re: Other Japanese cultural imports?

\ I think those books are in another room in a box somehwre. The one in my bedroom contains a lot of books on film like ones on the old serials or my Tolkien books like The Silmarillion and others or the first edition Star Wars paperbacks or old scifi and fantasy books and pulps. I really need to c...

Re: Oldschool OVAs You Wish Were Completed

Cameron's Battle Angel Alita feels more infuriating because it ends in absolute sequel bait but the OVA on the other hand does make for a satisfyingly tragic tale of unrequited love in a world of high tech and low life. Don't get me wrong I'd revel in the slightest prospects of more of Gunnm's mang...

Re: Oldschool OVAs You Wish Were Completed

In terms of unfinished OVA releases in the states, Bomber Bikers of Shonan and Bite Me Chameleon come to mind. Bomber Bikers didn't sell well and wasn't worth releasing on DVD, and I can imagine the same for Bite Me. Neither have an English dub to them.

Re: Oldschool OVAs You Wish Were Completed

The original Sol Bianca OVA. That is my prized OVA to me that I wish the second OVA lead to a final one that wrapped up the story. But due to low sales we never got a final OVA. I think The Legacy was the retelling with the ending that they wanted, but I wasn't impressed with Legacy all around. I sh...

Re: Amazon developing live-action Hellsing based on the manga

Confession--I don't really like most of the Marvel/DC movies. They're too machine-like and factory-manufactured for my liking. But, its success is that it pleases the fanbase, and the general public likes them, which is what counts. Comic book superhero movies didn't take off until Hollywood unders...

Re: Discotek have found Project A-ko master reel!

In my mind all im thinking is him rolling over to the other side of his bed, reaching underneith blindly on the floor below, touching something on the floor and muttering "...mmm, I think that might be it- YEP, FOUND IT! I knew I had this somewhere close by!"

Re: Amazon developing live-action Hellsing based on the manga

I think the difference is the fanbase. Anime/manga fans don't really watch and read anime and manga to want American live action versions of them. Anime fans at most view Hollywood anime adaptations with curiosity, but it's nothing close to a reaction like "OMG the new Avengers movie. MUST WATCH." ...
