Re: My summer plans...

I have a DVD backlog about that long with things I've owned for almost that long, same with material on my external HD. Farscape is my evening show before I fall asleep for right now, then I need to get back into finishing Twin Peaks. Anime should be in that at some point. I got little projects to w...

Re: A-Kon 1997 report

That's kinda how Animazement has become. Last year I only went because Robert Woodhead wanted me on his AnimEigo panel to be a talking head, so my cost for the ticked and hotel were covered, can't complain with that and very grateful for it. I felt like I barely got to meet with you when the year p...

Re: How big was Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs?

Surprisingly to me, Galaxy Rangers is a really well done series. I bought a couple of DVDs used a while ago and watch them and I was pretty engaged in what I saw. I'm not sure how I would feel about Bravestarr (probably not much), but I haven't seen much on Saber Rider/Bismark other than MIO doing t...

Re: A-Kon 1997 report

Your report reminds me of what conventions have largely become for me - An excuse to travel to the opposite side of the country to hang out with friends - and less meeting guests, attending panels and being introduced to new anime. I didn't start attending conventions until 2009 (parents would have...

Re: Your memories of anime theatrical release?

I've kinda had the opposite in seeing anime in theaters to you guys, as in I saw whatever came out which is newer and ive gone back to see older films at a Regal in Greenville SC i'll drive up too to see whatever they got. I want to say my first anime film was Pokémon the Movie in middle school, and...

Re: Rise & Fall Of The Shogun Warriors

There's a toy shop near Greer that has the Mazinger Z in the display case, I got to fiddle with it a few weeks back before they put it out there. Their asking price for it is 300.

Re: How bad would the Corona virus be to the convention scene

Momocon just cancelled as well. I will say this that for people who entered into the AMV competitions, the organizers are doing Twitich streams of the finalists. I've submitted a piece of work for many cons this year and ive been getting on the finalist list, so last weekend Anime Detour did theirs ...

Re: How bad would the Corona virus be to the convention scene

As far as I know, there hasn't been an anime convention that's had to make the decision to cancel without a city or state gathering ban already in place. IF, and this is a hypothetical, if a convention was forced to make the decision to shut down without the benefit of force majeure as a cover, the...

Re: How bad would the Corona virus be to the convention scene

The Raleigh Convention Center has barred all events till the end of May, meaning that gets Animazement out of their contract. They say they might "postpone" their con, but I think its inevitable to just move the con till next year, which is fine with me, more money saved. I got a feeling that AWA is...

Re: An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?

I remember asking that question to Toshifumi Yoshida years back at Animazement, and from what I gathered he's gotten completely out of the anime industry, but works somewhere in the media market. So in a sense he kinda fell of the radar, and there's no way to get in contact with him afaik. Although ...
