Who fansubbed Lupin III in 1986?
I see mentions to this being the very first recorded fansub -- according to James Renault, Roy Black of the Blacksburg, VA chapter of C/FO got his hands on an Nth generation copy and sent one to the Rising Sun chapter in Japan where he saw it. However, in the stories I've read, nobody knows who the ...

Where are they now: Mark Merlino
Credited by Fred Patten as being the founder of American organized anime fandom, mostly because he bought a Sanyo V-Cord machine in 1975, making it possible to show recorded giant robot shows off of the local Japanese TV station to those who had not seen them live. (^_^) Not sure if he's still into ...

What caused the C/FO to fall apart?
I see a lot of fingers pointed to Randall Stukey of C/FO San Antonio, but it seems strange that a national organization spanning multiple states and even countries could come crashing down due to the efforts of one man by himself. Is there a larger story here? Was the disbanding of the C/FO inevitab...

New-school AMVs based off old-school anime?
While my personal favorite style of AMV uses the extended versions of songs from the OST (like this one for Akira: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77zU5JMOqUg) not every vintage anime has a soundtrack that has aged equally well. (^_^;) I like to believe that new-school AMVs can help break through th...

Re: James Lick of tcp.com
That's true! It was originally hosted at Ohio State by Marijan Adam while he was a student there, but network traffic got so high that it couldn't be hosted there anymore, so TCP stepped in. (^_^) Those CD copies of the Venice archive are probably why it all exists archived today. Kinda like how a l...
