Experimental Strongbad "Let's Play"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvscxQN1JlA So in the early 2000s there was a popular Flash cartoon called Homestar Runner. Unlike many other flash cartoons of its era, this one kept going (with the occasional break) right up until Adobe discontinued Flash. This was one of their attempts to figure o...

Re: RIP Amy Howard
Was Star Blazers fandom in the late 90s mostly people who had watched the original broadcasts as kids, or was there something that caused a revival?davemerrill wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 6:38 amAmy's third from the left in this photo of Star Blazers cosplayers at AWA 4 (1998)

Re: Oldschool OVAs You Wish Were Completed
I remember thinking that Battle Angel Alita was cool and wishing there was more of it. I guess we sort of got that, with James Cameron bargaining his way into making the Alita live-action, but more anime would also have been nice. :) I wish they'd kept making Be-bop High School OVAs, but they did ma...

Re: about those Amateur Press Associations
Reviewing old threads, I realized I never apologized for posting old scans with all the info intact. I think this might be an otaku generational gap thing. By my (the middle-schooler) generation, the idea that someone might graduate from high school or college, find a house, and still be living ther...

Re: Finally understanding "Big Eyes, Small Mouth" designs
Looking back, this isn't the first toothless-big-mouth show I've watched, so I'm not sure what made me realize with this one... I think it might be the mouth design, which sort of suggests turned-in lips. https://img1.ak.crunchyroll.com/i/spire4-tmb/15eea6024115ec92f1b1964f3715e5b21519886669_full.jp...

Finally understanding "Big Eyes, Small Mouth" designs
Watched a show that had the same cutesy designs, only with larger mouths, and the lack of teeth is really unsettling.

Is there a story behind the Armitage III: Poly-Matrix dub?
Slightly pre-Toonami, so I thought it might be a good place to ask. Elizabeth Berkley was unpopular at the time due to Showgirls, but as far as I can tell she didn't do anime before and hasn't done anime since. This is also true for Kiefer Sutherland, minus the Showgirls part (did he also do an unpo...

Re: Be-Bop High School
This show is the best kind of old cheese -- everyone is horrible, but somehow it manages to be hilarious. (As I an anime middle-schooler rather than an old-schooler, I played a bunch of River City Ransom for the NES when I was actually in middle school, so maybe I have a soft spot for "what-do-bulli...
