Re: KIKU's "Hawaii subs"
I just looked up the answer to what happened on the Japanese wikipedia page. The original actor, Kenji Ushio, resigned after he was arrested on suspicion of drug possession. Masashi Ishibashi, who was supposed to only have a guest appearance in episode 4, was rushed in to replace him. He had previou...

Re: KIKU's "Hawaii subs"
Years ago I downloaded copies of Battle Fever J someone put online that were ripped from KIKU-TV tapes. I probably still have them, or the files may still be out there online somewhere. What's interesting about these broadcasts is that a handful of the early episodes are the original version with Us...

Re: WTB: Japanese Manga Magazine Back Issues
Thanks, I really appreciate you checking! There’s part of me that wants to collect every issue of every manga magazine from every time period, but I don’t have the money or the space.

Re: WTB: Japanese Manga Magazine Back Issues
Have you looked on http://mandarake.co.jp/ yet? They're probably your best bet for ease of ordering and low prices, but stock on old weeklies can be really spotty because most people just chucked them in the trash after reading. But, they're pretty cheap when they have them. Good luck! Thanks for t...

Re: Hi Everybody
My situation is the reverse, where I've seen Maison Ikkoku, and Kimagure Orange Road is on my very short list of series to get to. Just can't decide whether I should read the manga or watch the anime first! When it comes to Shin-chan, you might be restricted on what you can watch depending on whethe...

WTB: Japanese Manga Magazine Back Issues
Hi Everyone, I recently began collecting old back issues of Japanese manga magazine publications. If anybody has some of these and is looking to free up some closet space, please consider selling to me! Below is a list of what I'm looking for in order of priority: Big Comic Spirits from 1980 - 1987....

Re: Crayon Shin-chan Tapes?
Thanks, MadSpecialist!! I finally made it over to these forums myself. Here's some more background on my search: Crayon Shin-chan has a rather large number of episodes that are not collected on the (many) DVD releases. Some of these episodes re-air on the CS TV-Asahi channel in Japan. Some have appe...

Hi Everybody
Hello. Just wanted to introduce myself. Nice to finally be part of these forums. I'm a 33 year-old male from the US. I never watched a second of anime until I was about 20 when a friend forced me to watch Full Metal Alchemist. Despite that, mostly everything I like out of Japan, whether it be anime,...
