Re: How do I watch Evangelion?
Watch the Platinum Collection DVDs if you can. They have additional scenes and some of the shots have been redone and remastered. If you watch the Platinum Collection, you don't have to watch Death & Rebirth, really but it isn't a bad watch and I'd still give it a go.

Re: Relating to younger fans...
I have been a bit hesitant to post on this thread for sometime, now, because this is a topic that could easily descend into griping and complaining without actually addressing the very real generation gap I see within anime fandom. A lot of things changed during the 1990s and Gen X'ers like myself g...

Re: What are you Watching?
Yeah, and they only got the first two or three episodes of the TV show, which is also a shame.

Re: What are you Watching?
Lupin's not on this week, so decided to continue rewatching the Dirty Pair instead. It's never occurred to me to wonder before whether the animation in this is so good because Sunrise were determined to one-up TMS's work on Cobra. Nozomi Entertainment has both Cobra and a ton of Dirty Pair on their...

Re: What are you Watching?
Finished Space Adventure Cobra . Definitely loved it. Great show. I actually got around to watching all of Clannad . It wasn't as great as everyone made it out to be, or as bad as everyone else made it out to be. All-in-all, a good show, even if it isn't a masterpiece. I think its actually a lot sma...

Re: What are you Watching?
I found Space Cobra on Crunchyroll and it is pretty awesome. It is one of those shows I've always wanted to see. The original creator, Buichi Terasawa, must have been really influenced by Métal hurlant (in English, Heavy Metal magazine)--the art style is very Western and not as anime, although the w...

Awesome. My niece turns 13 at the end of July. This would be perfect for her birthday.

Re: What are you Watching?
I recently remembered that Future Boy Conan was well-regarded in oldtaku circles back in the 1990s so I dug it up. I'm flying through it and am already finished episode 16. So far, it is a great show! I am highly impressed with the quality of animation compared to a lot of other shows that first air...

Haha, that's true! I assume it's probably her, because there really can't be many of us leftover who even remember her  Pepperidge Farm remembers, as do I. She did the introductions to Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer the first time I saw it on SciFi Channel's 1998 anime week. Unfortunately...

Re: Hopping in. Train me, Sensei!
Hey, welcome aboard. Do you have a MAL so I can see at a glance your stats and completion list? That might help figuring out where your tastes are and what to recommend. Aside from that, I'll give you the immediate run-down of films we always used in my circles back in the mid-to-late 90s to introdu...
