Re: Live-action Yu Yu Hakusho Netflix series cast reveal
Props for the all-Japanese cast here. But Kuwabara without his famous hairdo? Madness! It's clear they were going for a more realistic approach to this new Netflix version, though given how fantastical YYH is to begin with, I agree they could have gotten away with more "anime-like" designs...

Re: UY ALLSTARS: New Urusei Yatsura anime on TV in 2022!
All in all It looks pretty great! Good catch with that name. Given the website and online handles are still registered under "All Stars", I wonder if they'll use both in branding (I'll probably stick to All-Stars myself to differentiate from the original anime) Either way, it's interesting...

Re: dubs time forgot??? twitch event
This sounds like a fun idea, consider me interested. Now... are we talking dubs like Harmony Gold's take on Dragon Ball, with all the weird name changes? That Nausicaa "WARRIORS OF THE WIND" dub we'd all rather forget? Just to set the stage for the type of dubs to expect here. (Unless you ...

Live Action Robotech - Not Dead?
( Source 1 , Source 2 , Source 3 ) Feels like these anime live-action adaptations are always rotating hands, being in development hell for years (Think the AKIRA movie, or GITS and Bebop live actions before they were actually finished) But Robotech especially is a unique case, since its legal rights...

Re: Last anime to use hand-painted cels
Excuse the double-post here :P A friend of mine (Totally by coincidence, too) just sent this Twitter link discussing just this very subject, which adds another one to the pile; Astro Boy 2003! https://twitter.com/JaredDiCarlo1/status/1498307755551166466 https://i.imgur.com/R1ODgtJ.png As culturally ...

Last anime to use hand-painted cels
I was curious about it, and turns out there is a clear-cut answer: It's Japan's longest running animated sitcom, Sazae-san. (With close to 7,900 episodes currently, it gives the Simpsons a run for their money) They officially stopped using cel animation for it in September 2013 . Here's a comparison...

Re: UY ALLSTARS: New Urusei Yatsura anime on TV in 2022!
This adaptation is looking promising! The new voice talents fill the roles of Lum and Ataru perfectly in that PV, and it's a nice gesture to see Toshio Furukawa and Fumi Hirano pass the baton on the official website. So far, the art style, character design, etc. all seem quite accurate to Takahashi'...

Re: Netflix cancels LA Cowboy Bebop
I feel exactly the same as DKop. Without getting into spoiler-y details, despite Cowboy Bebop Netflix handling Vicious and Julia rather... poorly , I thought the main crew had excellent chemistry and were a blast to watch together - The show overall wasn't as deep as the original, but you could tell...

Re: Sexism in early anime fandom
On the plus side, I think people are much more knowledgeable about these issues nowadays, and can actively work to make our communities a welcoming place. Be it Anime, Science-Fiction, technology, or really any field that has been traditionally male-dominated. We can all imagine a stereotypical &quo...
