Re: Barbara of The Technogirls

Five Star Stories project was a valued release. Your mentioning of it makes me want to do a rewatch asap. Welcome.

VITIATORS (horror comic inspired by manga & anime)

Illustrated by Charles N. & scripted by Elytron Frass, VITIATORS is a sprawling work-in progress graphic novel - a Western spin on the Japanese subgenre known as ero-guro-nansensu (erotic grotesque nonsense). Hinted at within our preview, VITIATORS is set in a 2-D world of text & image in which its ...

Re: What are you Watching?

Wasn't able to get into Karasu Tengu Kabuto or Dai-Guard although I did try. I've always liked the concept of Dai-Guard but haven't really watched it to see how it works in execution. I have peculiar tastes. I dislike anything that leans into slice of life territory. I either want something dark, p...

Re: Tokyo Babylon gets a new anime adaptation!

I too wish Madhouse was doing this, but I'm still eager to give it a shot since the stories have a chance to shine. Netflix anime is hit or miss. A few gems manage to get made and released through the platform however. Hope that this becomes one of those.

Re: What are you Watching?

Wasn't able to get into Karasu Tengu Kabuto or Dai-Guard although I did try. Decided to finally give Ushio & Tora a watch, and I'm really glad I did. It's vibrant and dynamic. It's got well developed characters, intense action, a great sense of humor, some heart, and amazingly drawn yokai all with u...

Re: Alita: Battle Angel release..

Really enjoyed the film adaptation (minus a few brief, forgivable scenes). I do hope for a sequel. Just one would be fine - they can adapt it more liberally to give it a better/tighter conclusion than the manga had. Biggest disappointment is that the film wasn't successful enough to inspire an HD re...

Re: What are you Watching?

Ergo Proxy--the first 10 episodes or so are kind of a dreary slog (with dreary visuals), but the show really picks up after that with a series of truly unique episodes and a more varied tone to the series, while staying consistent to its overall atmosphere. I enjoyed the drearier episodes over the ...

Re: What are you Watching?

Karasu Tengu Kabuto (39 episode TV series + an OVA) 500 years ago in the Tensho Era of Japan, a man was born who defied the will of a demon; a man who had gods of good on his side; a man destined to battle evil....his name was Kabuto. Somehow, Kuroyasya Douki, the vile Black Night Demon, escaped his...

Yo

New to the site of course, and I'm about to catch up on a few threads to help settle in. Since roughly 25 years ago I've been a ravenous fan of sci-fi/horror/guro anime and manga, especially 80s-90s anime by Yoshiaki Kawajiri and Oohata Kouichi as well as manga by Yukito Kishiro and Suehiro Maruo (a...
