Re: Sexism in early anime fandom

I wish that crap would end, but it is what it is. There is always a supply of creeps around. Always.

Re: Sexism in early anime fandom

Well, it's not like clubs have people lined up to be President.... ...most were willing to take a warm body with a pulse (fog a mirror principle). Some clubs had passionate members, but you have to be thinking "With this 24/7 activity as well as my life in the actual, how long can I keep this u...

Re: Sexism in early anime fandom

[/quote] As a woman-type person, I've had my fair share of sexist encounters over the years. Sometimes it'd be things that people probably didn't even realize were sexist when they did them (like in the 90s when I was told I couldn't be the ONLY president of the anime club because they never had a F...

Re: How did JoJo's Bizarre Adventure become popular again?

The formula described (catchy music, engaging characters) is pretty much how most series take off. Where the original series lacked one of these key elements, the 25th anniversary hit the formulas smack-bang-dead-on. And now you have a sudden success. It doesn't defy logic. Re: Netflix Live-action Cowboy Bebop opening dropped

This is kind of a necro-bump, but I've been watching the first few episodes, and I think they are quite well done.

It keeps the right tone, and I think the change to live action is a positive one.

What do others think?

Re: Sexism in early anime fandom

For what it is worth, I never saw any of that. Not in conventions. Not in the Comic and Animation Forum when I was a SysOp on CI$. Nowhere. In fact, there was a great deal of respect. The late Kim Yale (John Ostrander of Grimjack fame's gf) was the narrator of Vampire Hunter D. I'd bought the origin...

Re: Macross Conversion DYRL maybe

No problem! If I was a NES system owner (my son is) I'd probably jump on it.

But I'm not. I'm into the bigger games (the original Asteroids, Tempest, Asteroids Deluxe, Stargate, Robotron, Xenon Pinball and an old Chicago Coin Super Score.

Re: Macross Conversion DYRL maybe

I was wrong - it would be for a standard (beige box with the flip up front door) NES, not a 64.

Re: Macross Conversion DYRL maybe

Converted a few Macross Famicom carts to NES

I don't know what FAMICOM is but I know what NES is. This would convert for the Nintendo 64 system I believe.

Macross Conversion DYRL maybe

I saw this on an arcade forum I'm a member on - if someone wants it, contact the guy.
