Re: RIP Amy Howard

Amy's third from the left in this photo of Star Blazers cosplayers at AWA 4 (1998) Was Star Blazers fandom in the late 90s mostly people who had watched the original broadcasts as kids, or was there something that caused a revival? Re: RIP Amy Howard

One of the first Star Blazers voice actors to surface was Michael Chechopolous, who did the voice of "Volgar", a minor character from an arc of the first season. When we interviewed him, one of the questions we asked was, why didn't the voice actors get screen credit? And the reason he gav...

RIP Amy Howard

we learned recently that Amy Howard Wilson, the voice actor of Nova in the 1979 series Star Blazers, had passed away in February. Her family and friends are still stunned, and this includes the thousands of friends she made while visiting anime conventions in the 1990s and 2000s. I wrote a short pie...

Re: Other Japanese cultural imports?

there was a big "nostalgia craze" in the late 1960s and early 1970s as members of the "baby boom" generation became adults and started becoming nostalgic for things they enjoyed as children. 1950s rock and roll, sitcoms like "I Love Lucy," horror movies and film noir m...
