Re: AnimeCon '92 (and '93?)

I'm looking at one of my 8mm tapes and it says Keycon 1991 (Winnipeg) and Animecan Trip. Dunno what's on it. I do recall getting my gear stolen in a break in on my truck which cost me the camera as well as the tapes i recorded of the con but that was a later year. I must transfer these to a more per...

Re: KIKU's "Hawaii subs"

Some shows I know that were subbed: DB/DBZ - all of DB and up to episode 104 (I believe) of DBZ were subbed. The rest were not Dr. Slump - subbed GeGeGe no Kitaro 1985 series - all of it was subbed Chibi Mariko - not subbed Live Tokusatsu series like many of the Kamen Rider series were all subbed. C...

Re: Sci Fi Channel "Festival of Anime"

I thought Prisoners of Gravity might have covered anime back in the day, but I guess I was mistaken:

Might have had something on Space channel but I'm not sure.

Re: Favorite fandom slice-of-life videos?

I shot a lot of video when I was away on trips to cons starting in 1987, including many masquerades. Haven;t got around to posting much of it. Was going to post the panel with Reed Waller and Kate Worley from a Winnipeg convention but after Yahoo Groups got hacked, I decided against it. Still have a...

Re: What are you Reading?

This probably doesn't fall under the anime section, but I finally got around to reading Console Wars book when I went to Arkansas a couple of weeks ago for college spring break. It's a very informative book on the behind the scenes info between Sega and Nintendo (so far its been focusing on Sega of...

Re: Ghibli Fest

Could be because I went to the subtitled version. I'd figure the dubbed one might have more people. If that was yesterday though, I doubt they had many people as Spider-Man opened as well, there was a big music event up here that drew a terrific number of people. Still might take in the next show on...

Re: Ghibli Fest

Ended up going anyway. Still a nice film after all these years. Only about 10 people in the theater though so they aren't making any money on these films...

Re: Ghibli Fest

Much as I like Miyazaki's films, I can't justify the price they are charging up here. A first run film like Transformers or Spider-Man is $12CAD. The Miyazaki films are $13! Now, in other centers this might be reasonable. Up where I am, it's not (though I'd probably pay to see the Yamato 2199 and 22...

Re: Viva Amiga: The Story of a Beautiful Machine documentary

I had an Atari ST. Which led to me contacting another Atari ST user. Who built his own subtitling/graphics overlay equipment from Telidon boards (you'll have to look those up). Which led to a number of subtitling projects. BEFORE The Amiga and genlocks and SSA (SubStation Alpha). This info you won't...
