Re: Other Japanese cultural imports?

\ I think those books are in another room in a box somehwre. The one in my bedroom contains a lot of books on film like ones on the old serials or my Tolkien books like The Silmarillion and others or the first edition Star Wars paperbacks or old scifi and fantasy books and pulps. I really need to c...

Re: Other Japanese cultural imports?

there was a big "nostalgia craze" in the late 1960s and early 1970s as members of the "baby boom" generation became adults and started becoming nostalgic for things they enjoyed as children. 1950s rock and roll, sitcoms like "I Love Lucy," horror movies and film noir m...

Re: Other Japanese cultural imports?

Online ordering and curbside pickup. Yeah, the other comics shop in town here does that too...but mail order? Not a lot doing that. A couple outfits in Canada. That's pretty much it. We are swamped everyday with orders. That's how I spend my day...find stuff, boxing it up and mailing it out...

Re: AnimeCon 1991 Video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDO6scjrYR8 Ah...this made me go back and check some video I shot from that convention of women creators who were voicing their opinion of the then comics industry. It's all very interesting. I must edit the footage and post it somewhere... The rest of the footage on ...

Re: 1989 Harmony Gold dub of Dragon Ball Search

Sorry. I don't think I recorded that stuff. I wasn't much into dubs. I almost always, even to this day, watched stuff in their original language. The only UPN or Fox stuff I had was the many Marvel series, Boomerang shows and a few shows I recorded for others like Pokemon (Diamond and Pearl), Sailor...

Re: 1989 Harmony Gold dub of Dragon Ball Search

No, but I do take requests...sometimes. What exactly are you looking for? I gave away most of my Sailor Moon and DB/Z dubs from Fox recordings, eith on tape or disc. I didn't give away the rest of the Fox Kids stuff, nor the Boomerang shows, though most of those are available on disc these days. But...

Re: Organizing Your Media And Merch

Organize? LOL... 900 sq. feet of disorganized mess. That's my house. I can't find anything anymore. I did put up 7 shelves in the past year, mostly to get some stuff off the floor. But that didn't really help at all, since I still lost a bunch of stuff I was looking for. And then, I keep adding stuf...

Re: AnimeCon 1991 Video

Yes, I have some video from that convention too. Made on my old 8mm videocamera before my truck was broken into in San Francisco a few years later and was stolen, along with that year's convention footage. But I have earlier tapes with things like a Dr. Who convention in Duluth Minnesolta with Eliza...

Re: How did Hentai made its way to America?

Yeah, it sounds like Bill Ward doing drawings for fetish mags. He wasn't into it, though people assumed he was. He was just very mercenary as an artist. If you paid him, he would draw it. I've seen some of those drawings rather than the tamer stuff he did for comics and even skin mags or humour mags...
