Re: Free screening of Akira at select Alamo Drafthouse locat

Thanks for posting this usamimi! Anyone considering attending the screening in Richardson, Texas? If I had the money for traveling 3 hours, I'd totally go to that one (that's the one in the Dallas area, right?)...man, I need to move closer to the Dallas area. Yes, Richardson is a suburb of Da...

Re: The "Check this item out on eBay" Thread

This one I actually posted this on the Anime Nostalgia blog because it made laugh--Someone had a Lupin figure that came with a couch, and a Lum figure that was originally attached to a Pachinko machine, so they put them together as a pair in this auction . XD I was actually tempted to bid on it, bu...

Re: Acquiring Doujinshi

Hmm.. that seems a little steep, but I'm not sure how rare they are. I assume the seller is domestic at least? I just spotted vols 1 & 2 for what looks like $30 combined, BUT it's on a yahoo auction (so, like I said, they won't sell to US). I dunno if greg or someone on here would be willing to...

Re: Acquiring Doujinshi

How much was it priced at? Doujinshi prices can vary WILDLY, but I think the main point to consider is that it is self-published (by the author/circle) and (AFAIK) NEVER re-printed. So, however many they made at one time is how many there will ever be, whether its 100 or 10,000. They also ONLY sell...

Re: The Anime Nostalgia Podcast & Blog

I'm a little late to post, but great work on the two newest episodes usamimi! I particularly enjoyed the Ghost in the Shell episode! I loved the first movie, and it seemed to be one of the "essential" titles to watch in the mid-to-late-nineties. I've never really explored the other Ghost i...

Re: ADR writing a book on DIC's Sailor Moon Dub

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I didn't usually notice the change between various voice actors when I was younger. I only noticed the switch in Sailor Moon when I picked up some dubbed VHS tapes years later. I do remember noticing the switch between Brian Drummond and Christopher Saba...

The "Check this item out on eBay" Thread

Do you ever run across amazing, rare, or just plain weird anime and manga-related items on eBay? If so, please post them in this thread. Who knows, you just might post the rare item that someone on this forum has been seeking for years! I'll start off with this interesting piece: an AOL floppy disk ...

Acquiring Doujinshi

Despite being into anime and manga fandom for years, collecting doujinshi is one aspect of fandom that I have almost zero familiarity with. Although I've been aware of it, doujinshi never particularly piqued my interest. However, I've recently become interested in acquiring some of the DragonBall do...

Re: ADR writing a book on DIC's Sailor Moon Dub

I'd be really interested in reading this. In general, I find this particular era of fandom fascinating, and I would love to learn more from someone who was actually involved in English dub production during the nineties.
