Re: battlin' fandoms

Sometimes it seems like people will quit fandoms when they really just want to quit particular people in their local fandom. I think the best alternative is when they start a competing club, but that doesn't always happen. If something shuts down that cycle of new members, it can cause a generation ...

Made in Abyss and the new re-make of Magical Circle Guru Guru. They are both great shows on their own, and it's interesting to contrast the two approaches to what is basically the same story. One thing I find especially intriguing is the way adults are portrayed in both series. Made in Abyss hits a ...

Re: pages from C/FO Magazine V2 #3

Amazing!! The president's bio is intriguing; maybe she is the reason the University of Arizona has always had such a strong anime fandom? It's interesting that as early as 1984 people were starting to notice that tape collectors won't join anime clubs if they don't have to, leading to the anime club...

Re: Older fans – what is your take on anime and anime fandom today?

Anime middle-schooler here -- my era was pre-streaming, post VHS, the great Pirate Wave of anime fandom when anime clubs started to die off and torrenting websites started taking their place, for better and worse. (^_^) Variety of anime available today is similar to during the pirate wave, but it's ...

Re: The Fandom directory

As a national organization it no longer exists, but individual chapters still exist in some places. Almost all changed their names after the national C/FO collapsed, but the original founding LA chapter still exists, mostly (I think) because it is affiliated with the Los Angeles Science Fiction Soci...
