Re: everything you never needed to know about Roman Albums

These are two that I've always wanted but can't find anywhere. For one thing it's just hard to search for them by title. mospeada1.jpg mospeada2.jpg I am pretty sure those are more pamphlets than actual magazines or mooks. You might look at the key model companies that had the license like IMAI and...

A bit before my time, but some links that are worth diving into for context on western anime BBS: http://neotokyo2099.com/2018/07/01/neo-tokyo-2099-interviews-an-interview-with-animestuff-1987-1995-owner-publisher-tom-mitchell/ http://neotokyo2099.com/2018/05/01/neo-tokyo-2099-25th-anniversary-flash...

Welcome to the forum! A couple of other old-school sites: Masamune Shirow Hyperpages: http://www.takotech.net/archive_mshp/ (currently throwing up a dangerous site warning though, so be careful) The original Macross Compendium page is still online: http://macross.anime.net/index.html Gears Online ha...

Re: WTB: Japanese Manga Magazine Back Issues

Have you looked on http://mandarake.co.jp/ yet? They're probably your best bet for ease of ordering and low prices, but stock on old weeklies can be really spotty because most people just chucked them in the trash after reading. But, they're pretty cheap when they have them. Good luck!

Re: The Chocolate Panic Picture Show?

It is odd that it wasn't mentioned in the Notenki Memoirs; maybe Takeda wasn't involved? A real puzzler... Yeah, I'm as perplexed by that as its absence from the JP Wikipedia page, since that lists the rest of the OVAs they did contract work for. Guess I need to add it to the list of things to revi...

Re: The Chocolate Panic Picture Show?

I'm really curious as to where the notion of Gainax's involvement in this comes from, as it's all over English-language sites like ANN and MAL, but I can't find corroboration of it in Japanese sources. It's also not mentioned on the Japanese Gainax Wikipedia page nor in Takeda's Notenki Memoirs, whi...

Re: Bubblegum Crisis love thread

What I love the most about Bubblegum Crisis is its soundtrack, which I of course own. Maybe not the proper place to ask this, but are there other OVAs with such big focus on music? I can't think of any that have resultet in so many full songs with lyrics and everything. As far as I know, there wasn...

Re: The Japanese Animation Network / Animation News Service

So it is with Robotech -- One cannot reasonably compare it to Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada because it is NOT THE SAME. Was this a frequently held opinion? I can see where he might have been going with that - and think there's a very good discussion in it - but saying that now, robot dorks w...
