Re: Babel Con '82 TV ad -
I'd imagine the easiest reference point would be furries -- their coolness level doesn't seem to have changed in 30 years. (^_^;) Hmmm. I would say that I have seen more than one high school student regularly wearing animal ears and occasionally tails. So even furries have become more... not accept...

Re: The World of Gekkan OUT
Thank you for the link... skimming through the pages of that gave me lots of nostalgia feels. I had one issue of OUT myself, but I know that I either ebayed or gave away all my old magazines a move or two back :/

Re: about those Amateur Press Associations
Just like with the later internet, you never REALLY knew if the person writing that APA trib was exactly as he or she was presenting him or herself. There were a few Animanga members whose tribs kind of blurred the line between reality and self-insert fan fiction, and to this day I do not know if t...

Re: RIAP / Running Ink Animation Productions?
They got a number of people together at the time to help work together on it. I know some people from Occidental college and Caltech worked on it (as in helping make individual cells). I could probably name a person that would have a cell or so ( Occidental College Anime Club Supervisor but I haven'...

Re: What are you Reading?
I've just caught up with Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita: Mars Chronicle. I'm very excited to see where they take the story from here with all this history and context exploration pertaining to the Gunnm Universe. I read the other two Alita series shortly prior and am always reading a Junji Ito work of so...

Re: What are you Watching?
I don't know if this deserves it's own thread or not but I am on the look out for Galaxy Express 999: Claire of Glass . My research says this was a TV special released in March of 1980 that was a re-cut of an episode from the TV series. It's something that I've mentioned in passing relating to a co...

Hearing people describe anime post 2000 as "old school" is just infuriating. Come on fellas, if that anime's not old enough to buy liquor, it's not "old school".

Re: Seven Seas licenses the original SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO!
Wow. Hm. I think that I should go thru what I have and haven't seen/obtained and what exists and make a list. I think I also need to make some sort of way to e-mail myself on a time delay to remind myself when these come around....
