Re: An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?

Does anyone here know anything about Robert Fenelon, one of the founding members of Michael Pinto's Star Blazers fanclub, and the guy who Michael entrusted the club when he left in 1984? I only know that he was an editor for the club's fanzine.

Re: pages from C/FO Magazine V2 #3

Thanks you, Dave, for patiently answering my question.

And speaking of Mike Toole, everyone knows his name, but I can not find anything about what he did in the 1990s.

Re: pages from C/FO Magazine V2 #3

I published a lot of fanzines and self-published comics in the 1980s. I edited the C/FO Atlanta newsletter for about two years, put out three issues of the anime zine "Oxygen Destroyer" in the late 1980s, made two Prince Planet / 60s anime zines, put together two issues of the national C/...

Thanks a lot! Also, do want to correct or add anything to the summary about Matt Murray?

Re: An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?

So, here is the first draft of my index. I can not say enough about how thankful I am for all the help from members of this forum to make this possible. It's still very unfinished, and I hope that you can read and give me a heads-up about anything I miss or being wrong.

Re: pages from C/FO Magazine V2 #3

Say, Dave, did you have any experience publishing on any anime fanzine back in the 1980s? You and Matt Murray did write comics together, right?

Re: New Spriggan anime adaptation to be made!

Looks like David Productions will be making a new Spriggan anime adaptation for Netflix soon! Since I've been enjoying their JJBA release so far, I'm looking forward to seeing how this'll be. The movie from the 90s looked really cool, but had a LOT of problems... http://animenostalgia.tumblr.com/po...

Re: pages from C/FO Magazine V2 #3

Wasn't the 1980s the time when the religious right was elevated and given credential in America? Protesting against anime in this days and age is ridiculous, but if you look at the televangelists and their followers, they are old people who do not know anything better, right (looking at Pat Robertso...

Re: pages from C/FO Magazine V2 #3

One of Yamatocon's organizers was named Bobb Waller - yes, it's spelled with two "b"s - and the other was Mark Hernandez. Together, both Bobb and Mark ran two Yamatocons and two Animagic conventions. I don't know Michael Lee Burgess. In my experience, the "Satanic Panic" of the ...

Re: pages from C/FO Magazine V2 #3

I could really make an article out of the culture of tape exchanging in the early days, right? It just sounds so interesting to me about the conventions and customs of a time before the Internet and retailers Say, in one of Derek Wakefield's essays, he mentioned that Yamato Con 1983 was organized by...
