Re: Let's Anime: Force Five

Terry's crew was also responsible for the infamous “Crushers” dub of the Nippon Sunrise film Crusher Joe. I was talking about Crusher Joe in a facebook group I am a member of and I got to thinking - the clips of Crusher Joe in Bad American Dubbing, is that the Jim Terry dub of Crushers? Also, that ...

Re: Hello everyone! VHS collector and ex-fansubber here

Unfortunately my fansubbing insight is quite dated, and I'm also running on a Macbook now instead of Windows. But back in the day, I used Aegisub to time all my subtitles, it was a pretty powerful tool. And I used VirtualDub with AVISynth for encoding, I believe I did that for MP4 files too when we...

Re: RIP Jim Kaposzatas

Walter Amos, posting as "Rheinhard" on the ANN Forums here wrote up some more good info about Jim. I remembered from the AWO interview that Jim did commercial video editing and production but I didn't know he held rotations of the "reaper beeper". ANN has a full obituary here.

Re: Organizing Your Media And Merch

It all seems so overwhelming that it makes me not want to do anything about it at all. This executive dysfunction struggle is real. I am getting some stuff ready to sell and digitizing stuff now and still, after pulling everything off the shelves a few times, sorting through it all, it winds up jus...

Re: Hello everyone! VHS collector and ex-fansubber here

Welcome to the forum! I've just recently started my digitizing journey from my analog collection, so it'll be nice to confer with another person here. Interested in hearing more about your early 2000s fansubbing days, too - I translated a couple things for the group Shin-Getter probably between 2006...

Re: RIP Jim Kaposzatas

I didn't know Jim and unfortunately never got a chance to meet him. I remember the first AMV I ever saw, a various mecha compilation set to The Transformers The Movie theme. It was something that, even as someone who was a fan for a few years at that point, was nothing I'd heard about, or considered...

Re: The old-school anime DVD/BD news thread.

I'm excited for the second set of Kodocha being released. I fell in love with that show in the fansub days and I grabbed only the first couple of single DVDs when FUNimation released them in the early/mid 2000s - I thought the show ended up getting dropped due to poor sales (due to rights edits) and...

Re: Let's Anime: Arcadia Of My Youth

I have similar feelings about My Youth in Arcadia since my first viewings. Prior to it, my only exposure to Harlock was the GE999 movie and just clips of other Harlock dubs from BAD (So, uh, thanks, Dave and the rest of CPF  ). I felt like Harlock was something I would (or maybe should) have re...

Re: What are you Watching?

Back digitizing some tapes again and popped in a couple of fansubs I got from a distro and found some surprises (always fun). The first tape was Pokemon S1E38 - the seizure episode - which ended up not being subbed (the things you forget after 20+ years). Unfortunately, the tape has some discoloring...
