The past relationship between the anime and furry fandoms

Can anyone here please give me an explanation about whether is there a cross-appeal between the anime and furry fandoms in the past? I know of Fred Pattern and Mark Merlino, as well as the influence of furry on early Japanese animation societies, but were these exceptions rather than the rules? Wasn...

Re: What are you Watching?

If you like shoujo manga, the manga is pretty good though it drags at times. The anime has its own charms & I remember really liking it but admittedly it's been YEARS since I last watched it lol. I'd say you could always try the anime & if you enjoy it maybe try the manga? Thanks for the re...

Re: What are you Watching?

I liked this show a lot, though I heard it goes downhill in season 2 cuz the original show runner left? So I've never seen the rest lol. Yeah, that is the gist of it. The second season of Psycho Pass basically reharshed the first season, but it lacked that gravitas to make things more interesting. ...

Re: An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?

As far as I know, Misawa was the only C/FO chapter on a military base in Japan. I have quite a few C/FO Magazines from that time period, each issue has a report on what each chapter has been up to, and Misawa was the only one that was mentioned. That doesn't mean there weren't anime fans stationed ...

Re: An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?

Please pardon my ignorance, but were the C/FO based on airbases in Japan any different from those in the States, like in age or professions? I only know that American servicemen have the right to bring their families to live within designated communities near their bases (Are these communities withi...

Re: An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?

Also, this article on Iyashikei states that the the first known fansub came out of a C/FO chapter situated near an Air Force base in Japan. Is this the truth, and if yes then which club was it?

Re: An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?

The history of early American anime fandom seems to be mostly a history of clubs; not sure if this is because of how it really was, or if those folks are just the ones who wrote and were written about the most. The early C/FO clubs: C/FO Los Angeles: Fred Patten, Mark Merlino, Judy Niver, Wendell W...

An index of prominent figures in the early anime fandom?

There have been attempts to list and categorize people important in the anime fandom, such as Fanlore . But what if there is someone who has just started researching into the early American anime fandom and needs a comprehensive index of people that he should read into, then whose names would appear...

Re: New City Hunter Movie announced for 2019!

Another trailer with way more animation! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRFrmaZa1OY Also confirmed that TM Network's "Get Wild" will be the ending theme! I have never read or watched Cat's Eye, but I saw the phrase on the apron of one of the female characters. Is this only a reference to...
