Thank you kindly! Hopefully, more eyes will be drawn to Jim's work. Several large online outlets like ANN and Kotaku are covering his story.DKop wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 4:33 am Ask and you shall recieve, here you go, spread it around!

Re: RIP Jim Kaposzatas
RIP to a fandom legend. Given they're such a staple, it's hard to imagine what both the convention and online scene would look like without AMVs, and the various offshoots that were influenced by them. Jim Kaposzatas' videos truly are important pieces of Western Anime fandom history. Since you downl...

Re: When did American anime fandom and Japanese import game fandom come together?
I think anything in the "Otaku" sphere was eventually brought over. If you look at Mail Order stores from the early 90's, a lot of them offer not just anime, but import games, garage kits, CDs, etc. The Ranma game on SNES actually getting localized could have also gotten people curious abo...

Re: Let's Anime visits 1972
As someone who's largely only familiar with anime 1980's and onward (With certain popular exceptions of course - Lupin, Devilman, Ashita no Joe, Galaxy Express, etc.) I appreciate write-up retrospectives like this. Mon Cheri Coco seems like a neat shoujo title to check out... If it were more readily...

Re: The old-school anime DVD/BD news thread.
GaoGaiGar is a cool and somewhat unexpected one, at least for me. Overall a solid line-up.

Re: Japanese anime fans dusting their VCR for Urusei Yatsura
I've got some blank VHS tapes in an old cabinet in my basement. Folks in Japan are lucky since they can just record it from live TV if they have a VCR, but we might have to do some sort of PC-to-CRT TV deal, using an HDMI to AV converter. I have a friend who uses his CRT as a computer monitor regula...

Re: Live-action Yu Yu Hakusho Netflix series cast reveal
Props for the all-Japanese cast here. But Kuwabara without his famous hairdo? Madness! It's clear they were going for a more realistic approach to this new Netflix version, though given how fantastical YYH is to begin with, I agree they could have gotten away with more "anime-like" designs...

Re: UY ALLSTARS: New Urusei Yatsura anime on TV in 2022!
All in all It looks pretty great! Good catch with that name. Given the website and online handles are still registered under "All Stars", I wonder if they'll use both in branding (I'll probably stick to All-Stars myself to differentiate from the original anime) Either way, it's interesting...
