Boston Japanimation Society newsletter uploads

Translator and fan Neil Nadelman recently uploaded some vintage 1984-1987 issues of Final Stop Andromeda, the newsletter of the Boston Japanimation Society. If you want to see what the Boston fans were up to and what they thought about anime at the time, this is a pretty good snapshot of the time an...

from dot org to dot net

Hey everybody, if you've noticed you can't get to Mister Kitty Dot Org any more, well, here's what happened. Our internet host zigged when it should have zagged, and consequently we lost our dot org address. However, we were able to quickly shift over to a dot net address, and everything at Mister K...

Re: Anime North 2023

we're a week out from Anime North and the general feeling is it went really well. Record breaking numbers, beautiful weather, a big, good-natured crowd full of positive energy, and we only needed the backup generator once on Sunday (some power company issues). I masked up inside - the full N95 for t...

character ID mystery

Clifford Cao is looking to identify the characters in a panel from the "Magic Kaito" manga circa 1987. Here's what he says: "If/when you have the time - could you possibly help me identify some of the cameos from this chapter of Magic Kaito here? They're all pre-1987 characters, and I...

Re: What did old-school fans think about digital fansubs?

I do all my panels through an .mp4 file by editing using Adobe Premiere since thats my only video editing software im accustomed too. It's easy to just hit the space bar on a video to pause and hit it again to play through the video slideshow. I dont want to attempt at doing excel or powerpoint onl...

Re: Visit Japan ?

We went to Tokyo twice. Places we visited included Mandarake in Shibuya, Akihabara, Nakano Broadway, a few toy stores in Shimokitazawa, the Kanda-Jinbouchou neighborhood, the temple in Asakusa, saw the Gundam in Odaiba. We went to the Toei Museum in Oizumi Gakuen and the Suginami Animation Museum. W...

Re: What did old-school fans think about digital fansubs?

Yeah, I glossed over the some of the pre-2000s stuff, particularly RealMedia files, mostly because I remember that stuff being either dubbed or raw. Probably because a lot of the compression rates made subtitles very difficult to read. Some of the Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT Quicktime and RM cli...
