Re: What are you Watching?

A family member wanted to watch an old VHSC tape the other day so I plugged in my JVC deck for the first time in about 12 years. Fortunately, I have saved a tube tv with S-video input and a couple master tapes from my college club days. So, I sat through them again to check for degrading... #1) DAIC...

Re: The "what is this anime/manga?" thread

A few months ago I saw the first OAV available here as a fansub:

Re: The format which anime was brought from Japan to America

Our college club was official, and the bi-monthly meetings in a Math/Sci lecture hall were approved. Club membership did cost money, which supported the production of a subbed tape library and event advertising. Our use of lab computers to host the "Venice" archive was likely unsanctioned....

Re: The format which anime was brought from Japan to America

My college club seniors handled the subtitling projects, and they were always trying to record the best "product". Our OSU group was called Killer Nuts Anime, and we circulated our own oddball SVHS masters generally sourced from LD. Unusually, the computers being used for the timing and su...

Re: New Discotek announcements: Area 88! Kimagure Orange Road! AND MORE!!

A new generation will have to pick up their jaw when watching Ginrei specials after serious G-ROBO. :o
You didn't realize those side stories were going to be insane based off the LD ads...

Re: DIY Framing for Anime Posters

I'd like to get a nice miter saw, but my work table is full of plastic model mess :D To do a decent job by hand you would need long clamps and probably a biscuit joiner too. Also, unless you have a router, you gotta buy the prefab frame sides at a craft store. One reason I picked the IKEA frames is ...

DIY Framing for Anime Posters

Since custom frames for artwork aren't cheap, here is my solution for import anime prints you'd like to display. The initial difficulty is accommodating the odd metric size the majority are cut to; my posters are all slightly larger than B2 (50x70 cm). Trimming is a bad idea, since the art or text i...

deciding to merge prereg and on site purchase into ONE LINE Wow, doing that is breaking a convention Commandment...rookie planning after this many years? As a courtesy, those of us in the autograph ticket line at ACEN would shout out when a guest became "unavailable". You felt bad for hop...

Re: Convention Appearances 2018

Admittedly, sponsorship control isn't something I'd uncover without insider info (in convention-hibernation for over a decade) ;) Losing the charity auction is a sore spot, and playing games for panel rewards can be depressingly random. I could still appreciate a GoH that doesn't draw, but only if h...

Re: Convention Appearances 2018

Going to a big gaming convention a few years back taught me to avoid multitudinous expos. If your interest doesn't mesh with mainstream, prepare to fight for a seat in a forgotten game room. Or, discover that the facet of dice-rolling fun you paid to enjoy was just fed to the CATAN/MAGIC/BOFFER hord...
