Re: 1994

1994 was the year that I started getting introduced to anime as anime (well, Japanimation). We'd been in Atlanta for about a year by that point. I was a huge comic book dork and I twisted my dad's arm into taking me to the local "Atlanta Comic Con" which was a 1-day (Saturday) dealers show...

Re: AWA 2014

I am planning on being in attendance in some form but won't be participating (running panels, promoting other conventions or otherwise all dedicated to the conventions) as much as I have in the past several years. I'll be sure to stop by some of the events - kinda interested in getting into the FUNS...

Re: The "Check this item out on eBay" Thread

I mean, I know NeoGeo always carried premium price tags with it but ... I dunno about that. Would all of those games have even cost 3 million new?

Re: "Ai Tenchi Muyo"--new Tenchi series to promote tourism

Saw the new designs the other day (totally with usamimi on the odd stockings thing...) and I wasn't super excited about them. Not really appalled either. Still don't really get the point for all of the new characters for this project... Not really sure I want check it out. When they started expandin...

Re: What are you Watching?

My fiancee is out of town for the week so one of my friends came over and we decided to live out a family Guy cut scene by enjoying bourbon and anime. He's picked up some stuff from the new season he really likes and wanted to show me, so I started watching Aldnoah.Zero, TokyoESP and Psycho Pass wit...

Re: Politician in Hyogo-ken caught using gov't money for ons

A co-worker of mine showed me that a couple weeks ago, trying to see if I had any other insight into it (I didn't). Of new Japanese Internet memes, this one's pretty .... eh. I don't get it. To me, government corruption should always be taken with some degree of seriousness. I guess, in the grand sc...

Re: The Bizarre World of Bootlegs

You're right - those Eva boots are incredibly well put together. My go to check for "imports" is looking for Japanese text and while there's a bunch of it for the disc stats, it actually took me a second to put together that the rest of the package is in English, which is another huge give...

Re: live-action versions of anime

I've skimmed through a lot of the previous 12 pages, so forgive me if I've overlooked something or inadvertently start wailing on a horse past its prime... I'm not opposed to a live action film or TV drama being based on an anime or manga outright - but I think the subject matter of the source mater...

Re: Linux discussion

Woooo~ Linux~. And I say that as one of the guys who seconded the motion of starting the thread. I am still a relative newbie to it; or, at least, I feel that way. I have a lot of colleagues and friends who have been using it for at least 10 years, so my paltry 7 years makes me feel kinda small. I a...
