Re: How did Hentai made its way to America?
Yeah, while there's still some old-school shops like that around, it's nice to know there's alternatives out there (or even places that cleaned up their act a little!) Ironically, I remember the comic shop in Pike Place in WA still carrying a lot of vintage adult manga releases right up until I mov...

Re: How did Hentai made its way to America?
If I had to guess why there aren't so many volunteers for hentai preservation, it's because it has the same problems as preserving obscure laserdisc releases, only moreso; the animation is bad, the plot not even bad-funny, and you can't even easily claim historical significance because you have to ...

Re: How did Hentai made its way to America?
I know that back in the 1990s, you could hire porn on VHS from rental stores ("behind the curtains" and things like that, right?). But what about Hentai works? How did they made their way to America? I suppose that some early fans had already obtained some tapes or manga from their Japane...

Thought I'd share one, too. I didn't create it, but it's pretty neat.

That was a pretty neat anime music video. Nice touch at the end, too. It had me laughing a bit.

Re: Older fans – what is your take on anime and anime fandom today?
So as you can see Karma, the take on anime and anime fandoms today, from the side of us older fans, really isn't all that different a take than what you all, as a new generation of fans, is going through. There wasn't this, mythical, beyond the ether, cosmic look into the classic of anime and manga ...

Re: The past relationship between the anime and furry fandoms
The relationship between anime and furry has always been there from the very beginning, Fire. Anime and manga as a whole, have always been hand in hand with all sorts of genres, including furry. You really can't have one, without the other. I don't think furry has to rely on being associated with an...

Re: Older fans – what is your take on anime and anime fandom today?
I know this question has been touched on in other threads before, but as a newer fan of anime, I'm interested in hearing older fans' perspective on the current anime fandom. What do you like/dislike about anime fandom at present? How has it changed and what do you miss? Are you still involved in th...

Re: How did you discover anime?
@Kale: How many issues of "Metal Bikini" did they make? I think I got that same issue if its the first one and I bought because "This looks dumb, oh well gotta have it!" Actually I don't think thats the first issue, I can't remember what I have, its all in storage. Academy Comic...
