Re: The Lucky Finds bragging thread

I think most guests are uneasy their first trip over, being surrounded by tall barbarians that bark crude Japanese and smell like beef jerky. I'm sure Asamiya quickly realized that none of us cared about his industry ties/situation. At panels you could tell who was a bit nervous about being dragged ...

Re: The Lucky Finds bragging thread

I'm going to batch the rest together, including some I traded for other goods. Most of these are from ACEN and Otakon events... Kenichi Sonoda was a super guest that drew for all his fans, and created pieces for the con shirt and fanzine. The "Priss in concert" sketch I desired took him li...

Identifying old slides

Long before I was born, my father's career start in the Navy brought him to 1950's Japan. I don't think he was stationed in the region, but he still had old Kodak slides of his visit. However, unlike his photos of Europe, the sites pictured were never identified. I had some scanned that I could tell...

Re: The Lucky Finds bragging thread

Still plenty of guest art to go... Here are the pieces by Tsukasa Kotobuki, two time invitee at ACEN, who did character design for a few things in the 90's. When I first met him, I asked for "super deformed" versions of the Toshinden gals, hoping I'd get more than one. He managed a trio in...

Re: Newtype Magazine - What was your first experience....

In addition to the manga installments in each issue, there were 80+ page bonus comics a few months a year. Comic GENKI featured some new artists combined with ones that contributed regularly to NT like H Mikimoto. The zine's flagship manga was 5 Star Stories , but I could never appreciate much of it...

Re: The Lucky Finds bragging thread

Yay for Maison, its my favorite romantic comedy. My old club, Killer Nuts Anime, remastered and showed the whole series at OSU. Club Pres had the LD box set. I have a few items as well, including the rare 1:4 scale figure, a cel from an early episode, and a Kyoko sketch by Yuji Moriyama (character d...

Re: The Lucky Finds bragging thread

Here is an old photo from Acen 2003, capturing Maya Okamoto's signing of a sketch of her character in Irresponsible Captain Tylor . I had the Nurse Harumi sketch from a previous con, but for the life of me I can't remember which Tylor staffer drew it! I think it was the main designer, but I can't te...

Re: Newtype Magazine - What was your first experience....

Sega machines with Sony machines...it was good while it lasted. From the 15th Anniv Memorial booklet is this (polled?) collection of popular headline articles by year. Below is 1990s as a sample, but you can request one ('85 ~ '99) to scan. Everybody knows Shampoo and City Hunter, but how many remem...

Re: The Lucky Finds bragging thread

I paid about triple for a copy of the MACROSS Movie Gold Book, the one with the film strip. Mikimoto is only smiling in the photo because I had the girl in front of me shoot it ;) It was the second day of autographs before he (reluctantly?) agreed to sketch Minmay for a small number of us. Ichiro It...
