Re: The Anime Nostalgia Podcast & Blog

Say usamimi, I've just finished Socerer Hunters on Retro Crush, and then I found out that it came from a light novel. There was quite a good number of fantasy light novel in the 19990s, wasn't it? Socerer Hunters, Sorcerous Stabber Orphen, Slayers, Record of Lodoss War, etc. And with the Slayers nov...

Re: Barbara of The Technogirls

It's great to see more people joining this forums! Also, if you don't mind, could I ask if you and other people affiliated with TechoGirls still doing anything related to anime or translation? I know that Anna Exter is stil a translator. Also, William Chow of Artic Animation is on Youtube. He has a ...

Re: Your favorite sport manga

Does Initial D count? Because that is underground touge/drift scene in the autosports world. Same with Wangan Midnight which was made at its peak popularity in the Wangan racing community in the 80's/90's. Initial D was the only series to get released in the states because it was cashing in on the ...

Your favorite sport manga

Do you guys have any favorite sport manga back in the days? I personally am not into sport, but I do something enjoy sport manga nevertheless. In my country Captain Tsubasa and Kattobi Itto/Buttobi Itto were big with the millennials, with Slam Dunk and the Prince of Tennis to a lesser extend.

Re: Other Japanese cultural imports?

It's really distribution that's the key, and I don't know why Warners or Disney hasn't said, hey, we have the clout to get our product into the spaces where the young readers are, why aren't we cranking out cheap regular product they can bug their Mom to buy them while in the checkout stand at the ...

Re: PhenomiCon

Also, why is it always a Holiday Inn or a Days Inn when it comes to conspiracy nuts making a statement or organize a meeting?

Re: PhenomiCon

Some of PhenomiCon's guests and attendees were probably white supremacists, racists, or various degrees of fascist or Nazis, but none of that was on public display at the convention. One of the guests, Milton William "Bill" Cooper, wrote a book that has been described as "the bible o...

Re: PhenomiCon

This was in no way a Japanese animation convention, but back in the early 1990s I was part of "Atlanta's Most Dangerous Convention", PhenomiCon, which was a gathering of hackers, gamers, UFO kooks, conspiracy nuts, fake religionists, and deep thinkers, all bouncing off each other for two ...

The first instance of an omnibus visual novel adaptation

I've just finished a show called Sentimental Journey adapted by Sunrise from the visual novel Sentimental Graffiti. Each episode is dedicated to a single story centers around one of the twelve heroines in the game. This kind of arrangement would later appear on other visual novel adaptations such as...

Re: Other Japanese cultural imports?

Suncoast video store in the late 90's immediately comes to mind. At the mall close to me was "the" place to get anime on VHS, before the DVD market took off and they supplied anime on DVD/bluray. They had Dragonball Z tapes there and other stuff that kinda blew me away like seeing Cutey H...
