Re: Anime websites

Man, wasn't AnimeNation owned by ADV or whatever? I think they were either heavily sponsored by them, or had some sort of partnership? A lot of their old advertising featured ADV titles front and center, so that wouldn't surprise me. I liked shopping there back when they were more of a mom-and-pop ...

Re: Anime websites

Early 2000's I was apart of AnimeNation's Anime forums, I was a pretty regular member, under J-RockGurl, then Gitaru~chan later on. I made my first online anime friends there and RPed pretty frequently. Ah, another AN alum! greg recruited Daishikaze and I from there. I don't know how often either o...

Re: The Lucky Finds bragging thread

I kinda wish that Discotek would pick it up. I know they probably wouldn't be able to license all the music (since they had OPs/music done with bands from some big name music group label (I think it was Johnny's? I can't remember), which was something that gave Funi a lot of problems, if I recall. ...

Re: Anime and the Video8 format

Wow! Talk about obscure. I have never seen these before. Maybe I have seen them, but my brain couldn't register what I was seeing, so I didn't pay attention. The support for commercial releases seems to have been rather small, even in Japan. Still, it would be interesting to see if you start notici...

Re: The Lucky Finds bragging thread

I was shocked to find a copy Kodocha season 2 at a local video game store for a whopping $15! (Which is, uh, considerably less than people are trying to sell it for online .) I rarely go to this specific game place because it's kind of crappy--but I brought in a bunch of DVDs I'd had left over from...

Re: What are you Watching?

While doing Christmas shopping last weekend, I ended up checking out the first couple of episodes of Sailormoon Crystal (because I apparently cannot finish anything I start) on CrunchyRoll. It's not bad but I think whatever magic was there to capture me 20 years ago when I was first exposed to the o...

Re: Anime websites

I remember SOS back in the day, too. My sister and I were big Sailor Moon fans, so I remember us reading through it extensively. But I don't ever remember really making the leap back to Ming's. I also used to be a huge Dragonball Z fan, so I had quite the collection of sites I would visit a lot. Pro...

Re: The "ARE YOU LOOKING FOR THIS?" Thread

Sorry (not sorry) to bump/necro a thread after 1 year but I saw this and had to comment. A copy of the Maison Ikkoku LD24 box found on eBay for a steal is one of my best LD finds, and domestic shipping made it all the better. LD is now dirt cheap in Japan, with the most lavish box sets going for not...

Re: Convention Panels

I don't think I really have the right equipment to do one justice at the moment. I find from the technology side of things, a laptop is usually good enough for running visual aides. What makes for a quality panel, from a panelist's perspective, is the time to gather the info needed to present and a...
