Re: Anime Boston 2014
Those are some awesome scores. Good job shopping, I'm impressed they had a vendor with that merchandise honestly.

Re: Laws regarding Broadcasting Unlicensed Anime?
Sorry about the derail, to answer your basic question, IF it is not licensed in the US, then (in order to be LEGAL) you would need to track down the copyright holder in Japan and purchase broadcast rights from THEM. Obviously that's incredibly complicated and time consuming (and if you don't speak J...

Re: Laws regarding Broadcasting Unlicensed Anime?
While I will again note my lack of definitive knowledge, I'll point out two things. #1. Foreign laws <> US laws, and anime copyrights are not definitively the same as US copyrights. There are similarities to be sure (most of which are intentional) but there are also differences #2. "New works&q...

Re: Laws regarding Broadcasting Unlicensed Anime?
Let me start by saying I AM NOT A LAWYER . That said, I've been doing some amateur investigating into a related topic for various reasons. To that end, I just want to note that THEORETICALLY (again, reference my first sentence) there are some OLD titles that are now "public domain" IN THEI...

Re: Anyone ever used the anipike?
Just out of curiosity, did anyone else do the big Anipike Trivia Contest? I remember being really impressed with the prize package they put together for that thing and had a lot of fun trying to find answers to all their questions. (some of which were pretty impressively obscure)

Re: The "GREG IN JAPAN" Thread...
That's interesting, thank you for sharing your perspective. I haven't yet stayed long enough to really feel like I "integrated" and my wife and I are both close enough to our families that I don't think I could move to Japan simply for familial tie reasons, but I DO think there are many th...

Re: The "GREG IN JAPAN" Thread...
I do wish I could see my friends and (most of) my family, but I really don't feel like visiting America. It's been two years since I went back, and at that time I only went back because my mom had died soon after we moved to Japan in January 2012. If you don't mind my asking, is there any particula...
