Re: live-action versions of anime

I actually enjoyed the Ranma 1/2 J-drama for what it was. Really the only person I didn't like was the person they chose for Ranma male, he just wasn't doing it for me. One of my favorite things about the drama was that Dr. Tofu seemed to have a much larger role. I always thought he wasn't utilized...

Re: live-action versions of anime

As I recall, Jackie Chan's also been in some live-action City Hunter movies, right? I've never seen them, though, since I hear they don't have much to do with the original series & are more slap-sticky. I think at least one or two of them have been released here. I actually found a live-action I...

Re: live-action versions of anime

The made-for-TV Ranma 1/2 live-action movie was pretty bad, right? I only saw the commercial on YouTube. Actually, it wasn't too bad! Cheesy, yeah, but given the source material, that wasn't a terrible thing. Some of the costumes were a little funny looking, but most live-action TV shows with odd c...

Re: live-action versions of anime

Cassharn wasn't bad, but I agree it dragged a looooot. They could've cut like 45 mins out of the movie and it probably would've made it better. I haven't seen Dororo or Goemon yet. (I know all of those are available on DVD here...I think Dororo's even on Netflix!) I keep forgetting about the Kenshin...

Re: AKB48's Minami Minageshi's Public Apology

I think both are incredibly awful, and the fact that it's 2013 and we're STILL treating idols this way is ridiculous. It's like you said, idols are basically like actresses playing a part, so throwing her to the wolves for simply falling in love and having a boyfriend is outrageous. I would love to ...

Re: live-action versions of anime

I think that was one of the contributing factors to ADV splitting. Poor investments and just not making enough money, the usual stuff. To keep from going totally bankrupt, they sold off all their assets to several off-shoots, so you could say Section 23 and Sentai Filmworks are like ADV's "chil...

I keep meaning to pick up that PS2 released one! I heard it was pretty good. I still have my Sakura Wars 3 and 4 for the Dreamcast. :D

Yeah, didn't they say they needed like 10 million dollars or something to fund it? Good luck making that kind of money trying to sell anime in America...
