Re: Video games that should've been made into anime
Oh, but there was that live-action movie! Ha, well now I must admit my secret shame! I know it wasn't well received, but that DOA film is a guilty pleasure. Fun, mindless fight scenes and there were a lot of references to the games throughout. As far as live-action films based on video games...

Re: Video games that should've been made into anime
I would love to see Dead or Alive turned into an anime. I'm surprised that it's never happened. The characters, especially the female ones, have a huge following with tons of related merchandise. It seems like a no-brainer to adapt it into animated form. Metal Gear Solid also seems ripe for an adapt...

Re: The Bizarre World of Bootlegs
Regardless of them being bootlegs, both have awesome cover artwork!
I'm intrigued by the premise of Okusama Wa Mahou Shoujo. Is it an anime worth seeking out? It's always interesting to see the magical girl formula switched up or deconstructed, like in Madoka Magica.

Re: The Bizarre World of Bootlegs
This was the dub that was used for Clash of the Bionoids, the edited U.S. version of DYRL that was released by Celebrity Home Entertainment. It is infamous for its terribleness. I was always interested in checking out the dub for Clash of the Bionoids, just to see if it lived up to it's infamy. Now...

Re: The Bizarre World of Bootlegs
I wish mine had that fandub, I can imagine Cristina Vee doing a pretty good Minmei voice. I think my DYRL copy might have been lifted from one of the now rare Japanese laserdisc releases. The dub sounds like Japanese actors, not well versed in speaking English, trying their best to sound out the wor...

Re: Favorite games based on anime/manga
Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie looks amazing, and those graphics...what incredible detail! Your review has tempted me to seek that one out in the very near future.

Re: The Bizarre World of Bootlegs
Unfortunately, no Angel Cop or Dragonar bootlegs. It's a shame that Angel Cop has been out of print for so long, it really needs a re-release. Usamini, I can't believe they threw in a super sentai show with Gantz too! I guess '70s sentai was just the go-to bonus feature for many of these bootleg com...

Re: live-action versions of anime
I spotted a number of pages back that there was some mention of the original Guyver live-action film. That one wasn't bad, but the often neglected sequel, Guyver 2: Dark Hero, is a must see. It certainly ranks as one of my favorite live-action anime adaptations. They captured the feel of the source ...

Re: Favorite games based on anime/manga
Yes, my mistake, you're absolutely right -- Robotech: Battlecry was made by TDK Mediactive, based in California. I've played only a few Macross games and most have left much to be desired. Of the ones I've tried, Macross: Ace Frontier for the PSP was possibly the best of the bunch, and it had an exc...

Re: The Bizarre World of Bootlegs
I've certainly come across a fair share of some wacky subtitles. One of the worst offenders that immediately springs to mind is a Ranma 1/2: Big Trouble in Nekonron China VCD (supposedly an "official" release from Malaysia). I'm convinced either the person subtitling it was on acid or had ...
