Re: Can anyone please help my article on the fall of C/FO?

I think this article is great - it covers all the main points and is fairly even-handed. Honestly, it's the sort of article I think Anime News Network might be interested in publishing - it ought to be read by anime fandom as a whole. Thanks for the encouragement! It means a lot to me that you said...

Can anyone please help my article on the fall of C/FO?

Does anyone here know r/hobbydrama ? It is a subreddit detailing all the drama in different fandoms. I've been writing an article about the fall of C/FO as a national organization, and the draft is here . Could anyone please give it a read and give your thought on it? I'd be extremely graceful for y...

Article on the fonts of Fanta's Zine

Someone wrote an article on which fonts was used in the 2nd issue of Fanta's Zine: https://fontsinuse.com/uses/45544/fanta-s-zine-no-2 Does anyone know whether the fanzine was written on an electric typewriter/word processor or something else? Also, looking at each page, it feels to me like members ...

Which Western novel has the most anime adaptations?

If we are talking about anime adaptations of Eastern literature, then either Journey to the West or Romance of the Three Kingdoms probably takes the cake. But which Western novel is the most popular to be adapted to anime?

Re: What caused the C/FO to fall apart?

I'm writing a piece for Reddit's r/HobbyDrama on this topic. Will it be fine if I based the article on this thread?

Also, Fred Patten in his book 25 years said that Randall Stuckey had link to Anime Hasshin. Is this true?

Re: How niche was mecha in America before Transformer?

It's a mixed bag. Star Wars stuff flew off the shelves. Other stuff (example: A large xenomorph from the Alien movie) that I remember seeing on our shelves at JC Penney's when I was a stockboy in the early 1980's - didn't sell, but if you bought one - oh boy, are they valuable now. Transformers wer...

How niche was mecha in America before Transformer?

I know that Gigantor was aired in the 60s, but between that point and the mid-80s when shows like Transformers and Voltron were aired, how niche was mecha to the larger American audience? Like, I think I've seen pictures of Japanese mecha figures being sold in America in 81-82, but how widely were t...

Re: "Where's the meeting this week?"

How important to you guys that the place you met had a TV? I guess that no one would want to carry a 25-inch CRT back and forth, right? Though it seemed like at the time there were some models marketed as "luggable"?

How long syndicated shows usually were?

I've read some where that back in the early days of anime in America, Americans much preferred if the anime series were 52 episodes or more so that they could syndicated it to local stations. Was this the lowest length of syndicated shows back then? If we just limited to animation, then how long did...
