Re: What are you Watching?
MKR on U.S. TV talks were rumoured to be active as early 1996, before the anime boom hit children's TV with Pokemon. I have to think that if it made it to syndication like Sailor Moon, it might have escaped some of the network interference a bit. Escaflowne and Card Captor Sakura were altered signif...

Re: Coming to R1: Galaxy Express 999 and Rose of Versailles
S'More claims that soft subs would cost too much money. In fact, it's pretty much their excuse for everything. If you check out their catalogue, their titles are often the ones you find in the Wal-Mart DVD bargain bins. http://smoreent.com/ So they're not really a company that has a lot of money or ...

Yep, there are a lot of stuff I missed during Animerica's heyday. I'm only now catching up on the original Slayers TV series right now, and it was all the rage back in the 90s. Most of my money was drained by Evangelion back then.

Re: Coming to R1: Galaxy Express 999 and Rose of Versailles
I'd hold off on the GE999 sets unless you are a really, really, big fan. The buzz on S'More is that they really screwed up on their first anime release, Bobobo-bo bo-bobo, by not including subtitles for the Japanese track. Well, they did have the subs, on a PDF file you read along while watching it....

Speaking of high school girls forming a band, have you guys seen the Japanese movie "Linda Linda Linda"? It's a fun movie in which some girls form a Blue Hearts cover band and ask the Korean exchange student to be the lead singer. I know this is an old thread, but I have seen "Linda ...

Re: What are you Watching?
but I'd hope that something called "remastered" would have fixed such errors. The remastered Dragonball DVD sets released in Japan have audio sync problems. There are five box sets (DB, DBZ first and second half, GT, and movies), and I know that at least the DB and DBZ ones have the sync ...

Re: llj's intro
I don't remember at what point I started actually specifically seeking out this "anime", and I probably used the word "Japanese animation" for many years until I got used to the word "anime". Do you remember ever using the word "Japanimation"? That was the pr...

Re: What are you Watching?
I have only watched the last volume of the BGC "remastered" set and I have to say, I was surprised how good it looked considering when it was released. I didn't notice any audio problems. There apparently were about 2 or even 3 different editions of BGC that Animeigo released on DVD. I wil...

llj's intro
Hi, my name is Graham and while I'm not as hardcore as most anime fans (I'm not a big convention-goer or cosplay guy, for instance), I've probably stuck around the hobby longer than the majority of them, who tend to burn out after 6-8 years of fandom. I've been an "official" fan for a litt...
