The "Bebop Crew" box is $500, the "Boogie Woogie Box" will be $350, and "Bounty Hunter's Steel" will be $250, according to this article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/olliebarder/2018/04/28/funimation-has-some-great-box-sets-planned-for-the-20th-anniversary-of-cowboy-be...

Re: Funimation's 20th Anniversary Cowboy Bebop sets announced
I really want them to release the art books and vinyls separately but I doubt that will happen. I'm curious on the prices for these, I can do without the figure in that first set. This. That's just money they're leaving on the table. I know there's often licensing bullcrap that prevents such things...

Re: Get Mighty Orbots on DVD Today!
That's Ohno, as in "Oh no, I forgot the mustard!" :) Have you seen the 'Ohno wants to be a real girl' episode yet? It's actually a decent episode (they all are) but I think the Japanese animators had them some fun with it. I can't remember if they actually defeat Shadow, but I do recall so...

Re: Get Mighty Orbots on DVD Today!
Thanks for the heads up. Are these those MOD discs Warner does? If so, they are DVD-R. Only one I've bought so far is Toei's Magic Boy. Yes, Warner Archives discs are (generally) Manufacture On Demand. There have been some reported instances of titles that were stamped due to anticipated demand (as...

Re: Youtube video "We Have Accepted Mediocrity" snipet focusing on 80s anime
To play devil's advocate: I am trying to find new, good stuff that entertains me, and I fail. This is after living in Japan for 15 years until a few years ago. So lack of exposure would be ironic. It's a given there that I was inundated with the garbage on TV (as I am here, with western TV) but als...

Re: Youtube video "We Have Accepted Mediocrity" snipet focusing on 80s anime
I think I've talked about this before. I feel the difference is, back in the day animation staff were all 'just making the donuts', you know? Devilman, Cutie Honey, Mazinger Z, all that mattered was sling some paint and shoot some cels. Then comes the '80s and fanboys started entering the industry, ...

Re: my goodness, it's god mazinger
As I recall in the Mazinger graphic novel, the Earth hero is the pilot of a Mazinger combat super robot during a future world war, and he gets zapped to another dimension full of giants that are Mazinger-sized, and he helps them battle monsters and then gets zapped back to his own world. It has a l...

Re: my goodness, it's god mazinger
Another great job of course. I thought the OP and ED themes were nice, catchy and kind of mellow but yeah, not what's called for when you have a giant stone god-statue biting dinosaurs. Hey. Is it just my imagination or is the core plot of the God Mazinger manga pretty much the same as the plot for ...

Man those 'Subspace' novels. Wow. SUPER rough reading and just a little scary. I think I'll stick with the Lensman books thank you. Welcome, SD! By Asimov's Undying Mutton Chops I welcome thee! Little powdered sugar donuts optional. :) That podcast was hella fun. Thanks for allowing me to participate.

Re: Sentai licenses Dunbine
gobsmacked. Yep. I mean, glad they are doing it, the wonder is why it took so long. I wonder if they'll remaster the discs back to the original 5 episodes per DVD to drop that set count to 10 discs. I mean, if they are actually getting access to new masters, that's a no-brainer, right? Hahahaha I wo...
