Re: Rumiko Takahashi enters Eisner Hall of Fame!
I was really happy to see Rumiko Takahashi up for the Eisner Hall of Fame; as soon as I saw she was up for induction, I made sure my votes this year were in as I could, just to be on the safe side! An honor a long time coming!

My first thought was "Oh no": Hollywood Live-Action Gundam
https://www.newsarama.com/40681-suit-up-live-action-gundam-movie-on-its-way.html I can't imagine this going well, and I'm not saying that as a jaded anime fan (nah...of course not....) but more so I just don't think some things translate to live-action very well, and I personally don't think Hollywo...

Re: Convention Appearances 2018
Oh no, I certainly wasn't thinking the big shows, like Otakon, when I was writing that. Admittedly, most of the anime cons I've been to in recent years have been well below the 30,000 mark, if even reaching the 10,000 mark, so maybe my views are a bit skewed. I was at last year's Katsucon for a pane...

Re: Convention Appearances 2018
Reading these posts about some recent conventions and such, really drives home something I've been thinking recently, and probably something that 's been discussed here, before. Namely that, I think anime conventions have largely retained their "fan" origins and, more importantly, atmosphe...

Re: Convention Appearances 2018
I'll be doing at least one talk at Otakon this summer; this will be 20 years since I went to my first anime convention (Otakon 1998) in middle school, so it has some sort of sentimental value to me. I wish it was still in Baltimore, but hey, what can you do. If there's any intention of having a meet...

Re: Babel Con '82 TV ad -
Thanks for the insight! That makes sense, that a local UHF wouldn't be charging all that much. And even more, if it aired during Starblazers - you have an entire audience (and likely attendee) pool, guaranteed to be watching. Do you recall how well the mini-cons were attended? I know this wouldn't b...

Re: Non-Anime Project - Tredegar Iron Works Documentary
Ah, thanks man! I'll keep updates posted. Like I said, PBS just told me a prime-time slot in April, but I have to wait until the April schedule is released for an exact date. Not sure why, but hey, they know how to run this stuff better than I do. And, actually yeah I'm in it a decent amount, on the...

Non-Anime Project - Tredegar Iron Works Documentary
I just wanted to post a link to a recent project of mine, a trailer for documentary I co-produced (and appear in) that will air on PBS in April, in case anyone on here is interested in the subject matter. Industrial and economic history are kind of a small crowd in general, but hey, never know. For ...
