Re: What did old-school fans think about digital fansubs?

I do all my panels through an .mp4 file by editing using Adobe Premiere since thats my only video editing software im accustomed too. It's easy to just hit the space bar on a video to pause and hit it again to play through the video slideshow. I dont want to attempt at doing excel or powerpoint onl...

Re: Visit Japan ?

We went to Tokyo twice. Places we visited included Mandarake in Shibuya, Akihabara, Nakano Broadway, a few toy stores in Shimokitazawa, the Kanda-Jinbouchou neighborhood, the temple in Asakusa, saw the Gundam in Odaiba. We went to the Toei Museum in Oizumi Gakuen and the Suginami Animation Museum. W...

Re: What did old-school fans think about digital fansubs?

Yeah, I glossed over the some of the pre-2000s stuff, particularly RealMedia files, mostly because I remember that stuff being either dubbed or raw. Probably because a lot of the compression rates made subtitles very difficult to read. Some of the Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT Quicktime and RM cli...

Re: What did old-school fans think about digital fansubs?

I did a lot of copying and trading of VHS fansubs, and helped out on a few of the CPF releases. In terms of the scarcity of fansubs, or the ability to replace lost fansub tapes, well, generally you got that fansub from someone you knew. If a dog ate that tape of the Patlabor movie fansub, or if you ...

Re: Let's Anime: Force Five

Those Crusher Joe clips in "Bad American Dubbing" are from "Crushers," yes. What we used for that video remains the best looking copy of "Crushers" I've ever seen; its distribution must have been just about non-existent. And deservedly so.

Hey Laurine! Glad to hear you're on the mend. I cannot imagine 110 degrees on Labor Day. Or any other time, to be honest. If you haven't seen the Shin Ultraman movie, put that on your to-get list!

Re: Let's Anime: Force Five

Very interesting article! But if I may add, you forget one more thing carrying the name "Force Five". It was originally a cancelled fighting game on the Atomiswave arcade board, but years after its cancellation, another company bought its assets, made some changes, and released the game u...

Re: The old-school anime DVD/BD news thread.

It's not really surprising they'd announced the Aim For The Ace movie, but it's still wonderful to hear. That movie is just about perfect. You know how sometimes you're watching a movie and you think to yourself "it would be exactly right for the movie to end right at this moment, the credits n...
