90's font?

So I'm trying to figure a good idea of how to stylize my title for my YouTube series (Anime and the 90s) I want to eventually make and upload. So I thought who better to ask than the fans of that decade. How about it? What style or font do you think would suit such a title or logo? maybe the font used for the title of animerica? maybe have some red Japanese lettering with the English version on top and in white? I'll take all your thoughts into consideration when designing it.

Scriptweaver, are you looking for something a bit more playful or a little more on the serious side? Also, would this be used solely for a logo or in other ways as well?

I guess more on the serious side. it'll just be used as a title design for the beginning of my videos as well as the thumbnail.

So far, Dkop's suggestion's gave me the idea of using the Jazz cup design for behind the lettering. So thx Dkop.

I was kinda being half serious on my ideas, but at the same time those were real 90's fonts that were used, so if you can use those then you got your inspiration.

Alright, this is what I got so far. Any thoughts?

Id stiffen the drop shadow behind the "anime and the 90's" font and make the text much brighter. I'd lessen the grey color and go for something more whiter to make it pop out. Also ad a bit of a drop shadow behind the big blue Z line you got going behind the title.

I did everything you suggested except adding shadow behind the jazz design. Because its a png rather then a txt file, itd need to be shadowed a different way and I don't know how to do that exactly or if I have time. Also I added some fading on some of the edges of the jazz design and I think it looks kinda nice that way. I may keep the edge fade.

Personally, I think it's a bit too busy, and I'm not a big fan of the stereotypical "Asian" fonts you see on ugly takeout menus. When I think of 90s style fonts, I think of quirky styles, maybe something like http://www.fontspace.com/m%C3%A5ns-greb ... rsonal-use , http://www.fontspace.com/wormboy/earthworm-jim or http://www.fontspace.com/cannot-into-sp ... rocketfuel . But since you're focusing on anime, maybe a more 90s sci-fi or grunge style might work better, like: http://www.fontspace.com/total-fontgeek ... cience-nbp or http://www.fontspace.com/kc-fonts/verbal-diarrhea ?
