It will give me time to get the weight down and learn some japanese. I was thinking of taking the JLPT next year. I want to meet and talk with some of the Japanese there. Hopefully, I can get to level four out of five onn the test before I go. I do not know if I will wait that long though. It may be best to go as soon as possible.

I want to go to AWA con in Atlanta next because I did say I was going. I just have to see how much I am able to save as well. I could shorten my trip to Japan make it only a week. Then go to the con and take it light on the collectibles. Then doing both might be possible. Thanks again guys!
Cool. And don't worry about the language. I'm only fluent enough to slur every other word. I understand quite a bit though. Many signs are in English, at least near the stations and tourist areas. Otaku like me tend to leave those areas though in search of goodies and special sites related to anime.

Yusaku,
The first time I visited Japan, I was 22 years old and I stayed for a month. I was a college student on summer break. I worked on campus, and since work was slow in the summer time, taking time off was no problem. I lined up several friends and acquaintences with whom I could stay with, and stayed at hostels the rest of the time. So, I was able to make a month's trip happen and I wasn't even making $10 an hour at the time. At the time, people couldn't believe I was able to go for a whole month, but I had saved up for it and stuck to a budget. You can read about it here:

I wrote the page when I was still pretty ignorant about Japan, but you'll see that I was able to see and do a lot during that time.

Me and a friend will be in Tokyo August 6th this year. We'll be at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku.

That's great! How long will you stay? I'll be in Tokyo the weekend of the 25th and 26th, so I don't think I can afford a second trip to Tokyo on one paycheck.
