This time we got a double feature type podcast, including reviews of Alita: Battle Angel and Gundam NT.

Finally got around to listening to the Gundam NT portion of the podcast - it sounds like your review of it is similar to what I heard other people talking about on the Internet - it's a weirdly paced mess and is otherwise un-notable in an expanding mid-late UC canon. It seems like everyone is waiting for Hathaway's Flash now (same) but I feel like NT fails at setting it up in a compelling way, almost the opposite of how ZZ gets really good to set up Char's Counterattack.

But do you agree with my view that there needs to be a Kelly's Heroes version of Gundam? That's all I remember making an argument in that recording 3 months ago lol. I dunno if you made it through our KickVic discussion or not. Yea it's a film that tried too hard and it didn't measure up.

Not sure if it would be my exact cup of tea but there are worse things Gundam has done!

I did not. I only skimmed to find the Gundam NT chat this episode.

What better way to celebrate Mothers Day than to post up a series that we haven't touched in 3 years. The next round of Takahashi v. Tomino is up with Aura Battler Dunbine and Panzer World Galiant!

Jumped around this episode, too. I knew little of Galiant but sounds like it's worth checking out. Dunbine, I am more familiar with. I like the premise of the TV series and the juxtaposition of a mecha series set in a medieval fantasy world of Byston Well, although I admittedly never finished it. It's a shame that nothing else in Byston Well seems to hold up as well as the TV series is regarded.

Oh - and I like the Tomino/Takahashi pairings. It's nice to see a good contrast of two pillars of 80s mecha anime. Keep 'em coming and let me know if you're interested in a third wheel to talk about Layzner ;)

We covered that long ago man: https://aoypodcast.com/2013/09/13/aoy-p ... er-review/

If you want me on your show to cover Layzner, i'd be down, but I would need a refresher.

That's what I get for not checking out the archives! Layzner will be on the AkibaRen show sometime but it's not scheduled just yet. When we start getting there, I'll see if you're available and give you a heads up though. Gonna check out that episode now.
