I'm know little to nothing about the garage kit / figure scene but I'll just say that a google search turns up a Japanese listing on an online shopping site for the 2nd garage kit in this series, featuring Mizuki (I don't know anything about Jewel Hunter Lime besides what I just read on wiki).

I dunno that this really attests to any kind of authenticity, but there you go. I couldn't find a listing for the one you posted a picture of. The name of the Playstation version of the game also has the word "Collection"in it so a lot of results for that pop up instead.

It's definitely legit -- the packaging is too nice and Mandarake doesn't sell bootlegs.

A few more kits show up if you google the company's name written out in katakana (エクシング), but a lack of online evidence and no official website doesn't mean it's suspect, it just means it's old. Lots of old kit manufacturers from the '80s and '90s don't have much of an online trail and typically the only evidence you'll find of them is on retail sites like Mandarake, Yahoo Auctions, and Suruga-ya.

I did a little toy photography earlier today with the SH Figarts Spike Spiegel and a Han Solo figure off the Black series. Just kinda played with perspective and lighting shots.

^ Good photography can only help good model building and figure displays.

Been building models still. Mostly been trying to work through some non-anime aircraft backlog but my Master Grade Sazabi is practically finished. I hate Bandai's late 2000s love of pressure/heat-transfer decals, so I am gonna dig up some aftermarket waterslide decals for it. Once I have decals and gloss coat applied, it will be done-done. I'm currently in progress with this fun little Dragonball kit. Only gotten the motorcycle bit built and working on detailing but the figures got me a little apprehensive because I normally skip the figure painting in all my Gunpla. So I expect this to be "in progress" for a while. I'm also working on a mecha kit of a different flavor, a Porsche 911 Carrera 2 from the You're Under Arrest The Movie. A late 1990s Fujimi kit - this is such a schizophrenic built. There's a lot of back and forth checking parts and instructions, some optional bits are labeled in the instructions, some are not. And it's taking longer because I am trying to use up some specific paints and my availability and the weather are no in sync so I can get out and airbrush for a day or two. I'm confident this will still look really good when I'm done but not sure if the struggle will be worth it lol.

Forgot to post this here, but I did a quick photo of my Girl-Type Ranma for a Halloween "card" for the podcast! Image

Very cool - I really like that figure of The Tick, too.

I don't know anyone who doesn't appreciate the Mighty Blue Avenger of Justice.
