Am I glad to be here!

Post by Fireminer »

Hello! I am new here, and it is really nice to be a part of this community.

I have only just started watching anime seriously around six years ago, and the number of titles I have watched must be minuscule compared to you here. I hope that you can impart some of your wisdom on to me!

As for personal preferences, I really love mecha anime, especially shows made following the "Gundam craze" of the 1980s (so VOTOMS, Dragonar, and the likes), though I like war stories in general. Regarding Shoujo manga, I am drawn to works which have impeccable sense of art (which covered character designs, background drawings, and fashion.)

Also, I have been trying to find and categorize websites that are related to the old-school Otaku fandom, such as this fansite about Slayers. So if anyone know one or two websites like that, please give me a heads-up!

Welcome! Wow, that Slayers fansite sure is old-school. Doesn't look like it's been redesigned in ages, which probably helps with the look, eh?

Some long-time fansites that are still around that I know off the top of my head are http://ohtori.nu (Utena), http://www.furinkan.com (all things Rumiko Takahashi), http://www.logh.net/classic/about.htm (LOTGH), and http://ravensgarage.com (BGC). There's probably many more out there still floating around tho!

You have no idea how much you have just helped me!

Say, there is a website which I have been searching up and down. It is a very 90s-looking site solely on Kia Anamiya and his works. Do you have any idea about it?

Welcome to the forum!

A couple of other old-school sites:

Masamune Shirow Hyperpages: http://www.takotech.net/archive_mshp/ (currently throwing up a dangerous site warning though, so be careful)
The original Macross Compendium page is still online: http://macross.anime.net/index.html
Gears Online has been around for at least a decade: http://gearsonline.net/
The Gunbuster Index: http://toponeraegunbuster.com/
Schaft Enterprises (Patlabor fansite): http://www.patlabor.info/
