RIAP / Running Ink Animation Productions?

The roughly mid-90's and earlier (generally pre-Toonami, pre-anime boom) era of anime & manga fandom: early cons, clubs, tape trading, Nth Generation VHS fansubs, old magazines & fanzines, fandubs, ancient merchandise, rec.arts.anime, and more!

RIAP / Running Ink Animation Productions?

Post by mbanu »

They produced original animation ala DAICON for Anime Expo openings back in the day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIpS_8qHMRg

I can find a bit of info on some of the individuals who made up the group, but not much on the group itself...

Chad Kime ended up getting a job at Pioneer, then working for Geneon, before burning(?) his anime bridges in a tell-all podcast about the collapse of the company on the ANNCast that is still one of the most educational interviews I've ever heard on the subject: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/anncast/2009-12-03

David Ho ended up with the RIAP.com domain, and uses it today to run an IT business.

Does anyone have any info about how the group formed, or when they wrapped up? Anyone have any cels from their productions? (^_^)

They got a number of people together at the time to help work together on it. I know some people from Occidental college and Caltech worked on it (as in helping make individual cells). I could probably name a person that would have a cell or so ( Occidental College Anime Club Supervisor but I haven't heard from her in decades)..
