The Fandom directory

The roughly mid-90's and earlier (generally pre-Toonami, pre-anime boom) era of anime & manga fandom: early cons, clubs, tape trading, Nth Generation VHS fansubs, old magazines & fanzines, fandubs, ancient merchandise, rec.arts.anime, and more!

I do hope the list of Fan Clubs is bringing back good memories, and even helping find old friends?!

I take it the Cartoon Fantasy Organization doesn't exist anymore? I keep seeing it mentioned in threads and the few wikipedia pages that exist say it currently exists, but the website hasn't been updated in over 5 years.

As a national organization it no longer exists, but individual chapters still exist in some places. Almost all changed their names after the national C/FO collapsed, but the original founding LA chapter still exists, mostly (I think) because it is affiliated with the Los Angeles Science Fiction Society, which owns its own meeting space. (^_^) The LA chapter mostly post on Facebook now: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cfo1977/ Just keep in mind that when people talk about the C/FO in a historical context, they are usually talking about the national organization, not the LA chapter.
mbanu: What's between Old School and New School?
runesaint: Hmmm. "Middle School", perhaps?
