Crunchyroll & Funimation's partnership ending, replaced with HIDIVE

Post by usamimi »

Head's up, everyone: CR and VRV will be loosing all their Funimation catalog titles November 9th. That means if there's any older shows you'd been meaning to watch, try to cram in as much as you can before the 9th. (This also includes Star Blazers/Yamato 2199, if you haven't watched it yet.) Here's a complete list of all the Funimation catalog stuff that will most likely leave: https://www.crunchyroll.com/publisher/Funimation

(This doesn't include stuff that was on CR BEFORE Funimation bought home video rights, such as My Hero Academia, etc. that are still currently airing. Those will still be available.)

No idea if this means Funimation stuff will be disappearing from other places as well, like Hulu, but I guess we'll see.

On the flip side, VRV will be picking up HIDIVE's anime catalog and replacing their Funimation stuff with their stuff. That means an alternative to subbing to HIDIVE itself (which doesn't have much in the way of streaming apps yet), and access to their 500+ anime catalog, which has a selection of good older stuff (including Space Runaway Ideon, Xabungle, Glass Mask, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, etc.)
