Anime Retellings of Western Folktales/Legends

Since there is a thread for anime versions of Japanese folktales, I don't see why we shouldn't have one for these.

And what better way to start it than with probably the most interesting (to an anime fan) of these shows, Dax International's Manga Sekai Mukashi Banashi, which ran from 1976 to 1979 and covered a wide variety of folktales and classic literature from all over the world, including those both well known and obscure.

Much like Manga Nihon Mukashi Banashi, which has already been discussed on this forum, the show looked different in every episode, with each director bringing his own approach to the story - and the directors included such well-known names as Osamu Dezaki, Rintaro and Masami Hata.
