Well, the only box in sight that I have is a bunch of Toonami/Adult Swim recordings of anime between 2001-2007 or so. These include Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam 0083, Inuyasha, Evangelion (plus the episodes from Giant Robot Week that were edited out), and a handful of other stuff.

I have some fair VHS collection. In 96, and until 98, Manga Entertainment released their titles here, and Pioneer too. Altough in that time I wasn't into anime, I managed to get most part of them used, and thanks to one friend that lend some of them to me.
I have those 3 here with me at hand, but with time I'll try to post every one of them here.
Urotsukidoji is the movie censored version, and 3x3 Eyes got a silly sub-name here, meaning something like "The Human's Uprising". Makes no sense to me And it's only the first 3 episodes. Nevertheless, they are good VHS, the only flaw for me it's that they were all dubbed in english. I don't like the Golgo dub specially, it's cheesy as hell.

I always love seeing VHS covers from around the world. Thanks for sharing these, Revenge! Odd that they'd be dubbed in English, tho. The cover to The Professional looks more cartoony than how it really is, given the content!

Here, two covers I had uploaded earlier. About the dubbing, Portugal doesn't dub every anime like some other countries do... Here, only the anime focused on kids like Doraemon or Inazuma Eleven are dubbed, the more adult ones like Cowboy Bebop, Boogeypob Phantom aired subtitled with Japanese audio, only the Manga VHS's were released with english audio, because they didn't have the Japanese audio rights I think, even in the UK, so they couldn't resell them to Portugal. I prefer subtitles to dubs tho, so I'm fine. Fun fact, Portugal is going to be the second or third country to air DB Super, next months, following France (we bought France version I think) and it's dubbed.

I'm jealous! I really wish we'd get Dragon Ball Super in the U.S. soon. Let us know how the Portuguese dub is!Revenge wrote:https://scontent-mad1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/t3 ... 7721_o.jpgusamimi wrote:I always love seeing VHS covers from around the world. Sorry for the offtopic. My nostalgic side is worked up, because the dub studio said they were contacting the old dubbers from the 90's when it aired first here, 97 to be precise. And how awful the dub was, here the dubs aren't that good. In fact DB had a terrible dub, even for our standarts, they made up many dialogues, changed names, the voices were terrible.Kame-Sen'nin wrote:I'm jealous! But, last year, we were the first country outside of Japan to air Sailor Moon Crystal, and the dub was pretty decent. Since TOEI founded a branch in France, it seems they like to supervise the dubs and translations, to the point of don't letting the studio translate "Sailor" or the names of the atacks. They are now pretty strict. I can only expect the same from DB Super's dub.
Yamato Takeru, the first VHS. Again, a silly and unrelated title was made up, altought on the dub, they don't mention it.The title reads "Takeru's Encounter". I like the cover too, great art, and a good anime overall. Kind off unknown if you ask me.

Nice ones. I really liked the Record of Lodoss War one, I would still buy that kind of stuff on vhs if I could find it here where I live at a cheap price, I really love the process of putting the vhs on the vcr, sit and watch, even seeing with the outdated video, maybe with many problems and artifacts, maybe not. Still I have both the TV anime and the OVAs on DVD hehe.llj wrote:http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z138 ... u0mxff.jpg

One of the first anime on vhs that I rented, in the end of the 90's. DBZ the movie aired on cinema here in 97/98, if my memory doesn't fail me, and the home video release contained 2 movies, "O Ataque do Dragão" (The Attack of the Dragon) and the "A Fusão" (The Fusion), matching movie 12 and 13. I was so excited in the day I rented this, that I remember watching 3 or 4 times in a row... Good times. Of course some weeks after I rented it again
