R to L Ranma!! Would buy if I didn't own the original individual volumes! May have a look into this in the future though :) /completist

Well it took a while, but Shonen Jump have FINALLY sorted out publishing/licensing issues for English speakers worldwide! Even though this happened a month ago (:/), I saw a post on Viz Media UK's Facebook last night, that we can now buy Shonen Jump via digital format for £1.99/month.

...Because we legitimately couldn't buy it before. :( FINALLY WE CAN.

I used to have an iPad but gave it to my brother who has used it already far more than I did. I now need a new tablet for this app alone... I can read it on my iPhone OK though (iPhone 5, good resolution!).

I have most of the Japanese books of Ranma, too, but...I'm definitely a completist as well, lol. XD I never did get all of the reprints they did a while back, so I guess I'll be selling or trading in those for these new ones!

That's great that the UK version of Shonen Jump is finally available! I know Viz has been trying to work this out for quite some time.

I actually plan on owning all manga editions of Ranma 1/2, including the single issues comics. XD I just usually wait to find the old editions for cheap (under $3 each). So far so good!

Not only did Viz recently start reprinting the Stardust Crusaders manga they released some time ago, they just confirmed they'll be releasing the first arc of Jojo's Bizarre Adventures next year: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... ood/.75442

Very exciting to see this classic series get more popular thanks to the anime streaming on Crunchyroll now! :D I've been enjoying seeing Jojo's back in the "kinda well-known" category agian, haven't seen that in some time!

Viz announced that Dr. Slump is back in print in English! FINALLY!!! Now I can get those few vols I was missing that people were trying to charge way too much for, lol.

Oh, and with the new anime out, Kodansha USA announced that they'll be reprinting Parasyte as well! Super awesome. :D

Dark Horse will be re-releasing Astro Boy in omnibus format! The first one'll be out in October, and will be almost 700 pages! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/161655 ... ADGRBGIOZ3

I'm excited for this, since the original volumes have been out of print for a while. :D

Boy, you know, I *SHOULD* be bouncing off the walls over this. I've been writing a whole big blog post about this in my head all day, and I'm still chewing on it.

It's not that great a manga. It's pretty formula Matsumoto, missing only the constant BJs that were a fixation of his during the '70s. From what I recall the story doesn't end so much as just stops. It's a lot like his Space Pirate Captain Harlock manga in that way.

So instead of a midline under $10 paperback release in 4 volumes, we're gonna get two 400 page hardcover omnibus volumes. I'm guessing, what, $50 each? I see more current manga in their omnibus release tend to $20 MSRP, so if they keep that pricepoint they may do OK. But I would still bet they'd be lucky to sell 500 copies.

I really really hate to say that. I would love for Queen Emeraldas to be a huge hit. It's just no Nurato or One Piece or Attack on Titan. Nothing changes that truth.

*sigh* 20 years too late, guys.

I HIGHLY doubt Emeraldas will be $50. Emma is hardcover with a dust jacket, nearly 400 pages and retails for $30-something but sells online for less. The latest Gundam Origin is almost 500 pages and sells for even less than that. I assume it'll probably have a SRP of around $30 or so but sell for less after it's release, like most of these hardcover collections do.

Admittedly, it's been a while since I've read Emeraldas, but I love her character and will definitely pick the books up in hopes that Kodansha will do more "classic" releases. There's been lots of buzz on Twitter about it already, and a well-known translator is even working on it (same guy who worked on the English Gegege no Kitaro and Showa releases), so people seem pretty excited for it. I'm optimistic about it. :)
