Yeah, the V-shaped smile is pretty dumb. The worst part about it is how it disappears in the middle somehow. Do they have split mouths? What the hell?

It's a common thing in anime (even older titles--Sailor Moon did it), but the fact that it literally looks like the same smile copied & pasted on each face, in the same place, drawn the same way, is a little odd to me. Add on the way almost everyone's eyes ALSO look the same shape, and it makes everyone look like they almost have the same face, which is kind of weird to me...While in the original series, they had similar mouths and such, they were drawn in a way that didn't look completely noticeable at a glance. And everyone's eyes were drawn differently enough to set them apart from other characters. (You wouldn't confuse Sasami's large eyes to Ayeka's smaller, more delicate looking ones.) A lot of newer shows seem to have this problem, which I can understand, but I do like the fact that the original OAV's designs where all just different enough that even though they were really similar sometimes, each face clearly had it's own look and personality. I wish they'd tried to do something more like that for this one, too. :/greg wrote:Yeah, the V-shaped smile is pretty dumb. The worst part about it is how it disappears in the middle somehow. I haven't gathered the courage to try watching this because I've heard from friends that it's pretty horrific. D: MAN. Anyone manage to watch any of it yet?
